Developers: Red Barrels
Publisher: Red Barrels
Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC

Red Barrels development studio is fascinating of in itself. The studio was founded by several designers that worked on notable video game titles that span from Assassin’s Creed, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia to even Uncharted. Released from the studio comes Outlast a first-person survival horror video game that was greatly received from gamers to critics alike. The original Outlast goes over the freelance investigative journalist Miles Upshur.

After receiving a lead about corrupt and unlawful human experiments being conducted in a closed off psychiatric hospital, Miles Upshur sets off to learn and record any facts that he may come across. Upon entering the asylum it’s apparent that genuinely evil and horrible acts have been executed. Equipped with a notebook and a camcorder, with night vision capabilities, players must navigate through the dark corridors and rooms while not wasting too much battery power.

Outlast tosses a nerve wrecking ransacked environment filled with deformed enemies lurking about making it near impossible not to tense up while playing.  Outlast 2 is said to take place within the same universe as the original title but a completely new setting and characters.
