At their E3 conference today, Microsoft confirmed that all of their games can be shared and streamed online via their ‘Game DVR’ feature; however, today they also went a bit more in depth with the ins and outs of the process, and revealed that the sharing and streaming is done via Twitch.
Of course, Microsoft, who demoed the feature while showing off the new Killer Instinct, couldn’t refrain from what was probably nothing more than hyperbole: “Xbox Live users on Xbox One will be able to “participate and impact the game” through Twitch.”
As with all features worth anything on an Xbox, Twitch will be exclusive to Xbox Live Gold users only (which implicitly confirms that there will be tiers of the service again). Users will be able to use Kinect to preview and edit their videos, and also to provide commentary.
