Ubisoft’s Steep Details Outed In New Video

It's a long way down.

An openworld…extreme sports game? Well, Ubisoft certainly wasn’t short on innovation at E3 this year. You can snowboard, ski, and, er glide in Steep, which is set in an open-world environment. Just like every other Ubisoft game. Ubisoft released a 48-minute video today that showcases different aspects of the game, from tricks and replays to exploration, and even the quirky GoPro mode.

Steep’s map is a shared-world multiplayer experience, similar to what’s on offer in The Division, except of course that it’s set in the Alps and sans pyromaniacs (we think).

From the limited amount of footage that’s available, we’re cautiously optimistic about Steep. On the one hand, typical Ubisoft design elements are just everywhere: The shared world multiplayer is on loan from The Division, and parachuting is just a bit too reminiscent of those brief encounters with gliders in the Far Cry games. But at the same time, the actual sporting action looks visceral; we could totally see this happening in VR.

What do you think about Steep? Let us know!
