Dave Cox, producer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow told PSM3 that the PS3 exclusive action epic Uncharted 2, did not ‘redefine’ action games.
Cox told PSM3 that it could not redefine action games as a whole because it was only a single-format release. While admitting that Uncharted 2 was graphically very impressive, he said, “Visually Uncharted 2 is beautiful and it impresses me technically. But does Uncharted 2 redefine 3rd person action games? I don’t think that it does.”
“Uncharted 2 is a great game and I enjoyed it immensely. The standouts are the story and the voice acting.
“[But] Uncharted was a single format release. If any game is going to set a benchmark for a genre it would need to do so across multiple platforms.”
Castlevania: Lords of Shadows is a joint venture with Kojima Productions and Mecury Steam and is due out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year.
