Popular band Union J will be celebrating the release of the upcoming Nintendo 3DS (and 2DS) exclusive titles Pokemon X and Pokemon Y by changing their name to Union XY for the period of one day. This change comes on the suggestion of band member George Shelley, and it was promptly supported by his band mates.

Looks like the band is actually pretty serious about the change too, as they made the announcement to a packed press conference.

For those (somehow) not in the know, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are the sixth mainline installments in the Pokemon saga releasing exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems in just a little over a week. The titles represent the biggest evolution and change that the series has seen since Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver for the Gameboy Color, released all the way back in 1999, yet.

GamingBolt will have more for you on the games, including our exhaustive review. Stay tuned.
