I normally not a big fan of the free to play model in games, it often emphasises the need to pay to win more than I would like and that’s a sentiment that’s shared across a vast crowd of gamers. One of the better free to play games, one that eschews the pay to win model, is now coming to Linux.

That’s right my avid war gamers, the excellent World War II inspired MMO free to play combat game, War Thunder is coming to Linux that support the 64-bit system. This means that those of you who use Linux 64-bit can finally take part in the World War II battles that number in their hundreds. Tanks and Planes are the name of the game here, so whilst massive armoured columns trawl across the ground below, massive dog fights and strafing runs are being conducted in the sky above, making for a very rewarding skill based game.

Regardless of your choice of system, if you can get your hands on War Thunder, I would recommend you give it as bash.
