During a shareholder meeting for the Kyoto-based tech giant, as translated by VGC, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa shed some light on the recent reports surrounding the upgraded Nintendo Switch Pro. When confronted with questions on the matter, he replied: “The Company will continue to focus on creating unique games, and in order to achieve this, we will continue to propose games using a dedicated game console with integrated hardware and software.”
“We are constantly developing hardware, software, and dedicated peripherals, but we will refrain from commenting on specific products under development,” Furukawa added, declining to comment on the company’s internal plans for its platforms.
Nintendo Switch Pro rumors have been picking up pace lately, with many alleging previously that it could be revealed before E3 2021. Multiple reports of listings of the console across various retailers and a lengthy report from Bloomberg further fan the flames of these rumors. With the ongoing global chip shortage and Nintendo’s failure to keep up with the demand for the Switch, it seems unlikely that a reveal is due for at least a couple of months. Then again, you never know with Nintendo.
