Will Uncharted 2: Among Thieves be better than Metal Gear Solid 4?

Posted By | On 20th, Sep. 2009

We are just about three weeks away from what is possibly PS3’s biggest game since Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. MGS4 was a classic. After following the series for almost a decade, I seriously believed that the fourth game in the series was one of the best games of 2008 if not one of the best games ever made. MGS4 reached our hearts and some of the ending scenes made fans cry. I still remember the microwave scene in MGS4 where Snake was literally fighting for his life.

Now that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has been quoted as the best game ever to hit the Playstation 3; we have to ask one question: Will Uncharted 2: Among Thieves provide an experience that is better than Metal Gear Solid 4? Many reviews from popular gaming sites have given Uncharted 2 scores from 10 to 9.5. Now that is really an awesome start for Naughty Dog’s game.

Now having said all that, we have some videos of some really memorable moments from Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. And man this looks like a close fight.

Hanging from a train:

Update: This video is no longer available.

This is one of the first trailers that were released for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and it shows Nathan Drake stuck in a train. After a while he comes to know that the train is hanging from a cliff, and the entire train is going down the mountain. Nate somehow manages to cling on the ledge.

This Entire trailer is EPIC!

Update: This video is no longer available.

Well this one, which was released at E3 2009, showed more of the game. The video shows that how he fights off against helicopters; gets his ass saved from an iceberg and finally in the ending he jumps off a burning train.

Now there are some other videos released recently which showed more of Uncharted 2. But now it?s time to see some of the memorable moments from MGS4.

Bike Chase:

Update: This video is no longer available.

Sitting on a bike with your own mother, and fighting off against the Gekko and the enemy soldiers. This seems like a script straight from Hollywood. Some of the scenes are just unbelievable and Hideo Kojima and his team did a fantastic job of recreating their imaginations.

Solid versus Liquid:

Update: This video is no longer available.

This is perhaps one of my best boss fights of all time! It was stated by many as the best boss fight ever. The emotional drama between two brothers and the music accompanying the fight was just amazing. It doesn’t get any bigger or better than this.

So as you see both of the games had some memorable moments. The thing is that Metal Gear Solid 4 was full of them. Right from the day you pick the controller to the day you beat Liquid. The game is full of ‘awesomeness.’ We have seen Uncharted 2 in glimpses. We all know it?s a prime candidate for Game of the Year, but will it connect to our hearts, just as MGS4? We will have to wait and see.
