Windows 8: Notch to Microsoft “Stop trying to ruin the PC as an open platform”

Is it hypocritical? Tell us.

Notch, the creator of Minecraft, has openly dismissed Microsoft who wanted Windows 8 certification for Minecraft. I may be playing too much Borderlands 2 here but his tweet was completely ‘badass’.

Some people may argue it was sort of hypocritical after putting his games on closed platforms like iOS and Xbox 360–not to mention making tons of money on them, but his concerns are valid. It’s not something I find it to be a big deal though, because you don’t really need to certify a game to put it on Windows 8.

“Got an email from Microsoft, wanting to help ‘certify’ Minecraft for Win 8. I told them to stop trying to ruin the PC as an open platform,”  he tweeted. “I’d rather have Minecraft not run on Win 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to Win 8 that way.”
