Blizzard Entertainment has announced that original World of Warcraft creative director Chris Metzen is returning to the studio as a creative advisor. Metzen had left the company back in 2016. The announcement was made by Warcraft general manager John Hight.

According to Hight, Metzen’s work will revolve primarily around World of Warcraft, with the potential of expanding his work on to other projects down the line.

Metzen has been quite prolific for his work on the Warcraft franchise, being involved with the series in some way or another since the release of the first Warcraft game—Warcraft: Orcs and Humans.

During his time with World of Warcraft, Metzen was known primarily for his work as part of the creative team, as well as his work as the voice actor for characters like Thrall.

World of Warcraft recently kicked off the first season of its Dragonflight expansion, bringing with it a host of new dungeons for Mythic+, as well as the expansion’s first raid.
