WTF Moment of the Day: Pachter Believes Activision Must Charge Fees For Call of Duty

Posted By | On 16th, Jul. 2010

Yeah, that’s just what we need, Pachter. More milking of gamers by evil corporation Activision.

But of course, that’s what’s gonna happen anyway, and it seems that by making this prediction, Patcher is only looking to improve his own track record (which, by the way, is super dismal).

The analyst has a theory as to why game sales for the past few months have been so disappointing (April sucked entirely, May was good because of Red Dead Redemption and Super Mario Galaxy, but hardware sales plummeted, June had 360 sales spiking, but software sales totally sucked). Apparently, it’s because we’re all so busy playing Modern Warfare online that industry revenues are taking a hit.

Of course, the only way out is to charge for online play in Call of Duty, Pachter suggests.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of this idea. Evil corportage bigwig Bobby ‘Dick’ Kotick has had the same idea in the past, so I suppose it’s only a matter of time before we see its implementation.

In which case, bye bye to Call of Duty for me.
