WWE 2k15

Although 2K Games acquired the WWE license last year, there wasn’t much they could do with it- work on the 2013 edition of the game had already been underway under THQ by the time 2K got control of the license and the project, and they really didn’t want to start over just months away from the release date. So they mostly just stuck to marketing, letting the old development staff finish the game on their own schedule.

Not this year. This year, 2K Games has actively taken control of the project from the first step of development itself. The game is being developed under full supervision of the publishing giant, and will combine the experience of the old development team with the 2K game polish.

“Obviously we were all very happy to be able to get the license, be a part of the WWE universe, bring on a new team, and still get a game done in the midst of what was an absolute disaster,” Mark Little, executive producer on the game, said. “So the fact we were able to get WWE 2K14 done is a testament to everybody who was involved in that project.”

He went on to promise a much better showing for the franchise this year, though, as Polygon points out, right now this is all assurances, backed with no gameplay footage whatsoever. We’ll see soon.
