Xbox is paying homage to manga and video game artist Akira Toriyama by bringing a new dynamic dashboard background to Xbox consoles. The new dynamic background features art from Xbox 360 RPG Blue Dragon, which featured artwork by Toriyama.

Toriyama, who passed away earlier this month, is well-regarded in the anime and video game worlds for his contribution to the mediums. Responsible for one of the most influential and important manga of all time in the form of Dragon Ball, Toriyama also had a hand in the evolution of video game art with titles like the Dragon Quest franchise, Chrono Trigger, and Blue Dragon.

Blue Dragon was an early attempt by Xbox to break into the Japanese market with its own Japanese-inspired RPG. The game, featuring artwork by Toriyama, also featured Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu in its development team.

The game revolves around Shu, Jiro, and Kluke, whose lives are upended by the attack of a mechanical creature known as the Land Shark.
