Probably the most exciting map types in the game, potentially.

Xcom 2

XCOM 2 is almost here. The sequel to the 2012 reboot of the classic turn based strategy franchise looks like it will go bigger, better, and channel the classic XCOM games in so many ways that Enemy Unknown could not manage to do. Ahead of the game’s launch next month, developers Firaxis shared some new screenshots for the game.

The screenshots unveil a brand new environment type in game- slums, adding to the whole host of environment types that we already know will feature in the game. Alongside slums, players can expect to battle in urban areas, the wilderness, and shanty towns.

Personally, these slums look great, and promise what may end up being the most exciting maps in the game, with loads of vantage points, bottlenecks to use to your advantage, and obstructions to hide enemies from the line of sight, and potential for the element of surprise.

XCOM 2 launches in February, exclusively on PC.
