Xenoblade Chronicles 3, like its predecessors, is probably going to scare off more than a few people with the sheer scale and breadth of its experience and complexity of its gameplay systems, but there’s still no shortage of people out there who’re keenly excited about the game. Monolith Soft’s RPG is looking like its most ambitious and polished outing yet, and recently, we got to see a little bit more of it in action.
Nintendo showed off a healthy chunk of over 20 minutes of gameplay footage of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 at a recent French event, which you can check out below, courtesy of Nintendo Everything. The entire section is set in a snowy open world environment, with the initial minutes showing the party resting at a camp, which is something of a JRPG staple, but new for the series. From what’s shown here, it seems like the camp will involve activities like being able to cook meals, change characters’ clothes, have conversations, and more.
Plenty of combat is also shown, including Chain Attacks, Fusion Arts, and more. The entire back half of the gameplay showing, meanwhile, shows what seems like an open world boss encounter against a high level enemy called that looks like a giant, white stag with some pretty hard-hitting attacks. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is due out on July 29 exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
