Xenoblade Chronicles X Character DLC Will be Free Outside of Japan

That should help endear it to fans in the west.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Doll

The long awaited Xenoblade Chronicles X is almost here, and there is some good news for everyone who has been awaiting the western release of this title- the extensive character DLC in the game, which was sold as paid additional content for the game in Japan, will all be made available to western markets for absolutely free.

This DLC adds new characters to the game that you can recruit into your party. One of them is also being modified for the international release- in Japan, Lynlee was 13 years old. This wouldn’t be much of an issue, but the problem is, she has some revealing swimsuits and bikinis that she can wear, which would undoubtedly raise some eyebrows here (and is, frankly, disturbing). Her age has been moved up 15, and it would not surprise me to see if her clothes have also been censored.

Finally, for all fans of JRPGs, this last announcement will be great- Prima has revealed plans for Xenoblade Chronicles X’s strategy guide. A standard and hardcover collector’s edition will be available when the game launches. It looks gorgeous, and is probably as much of a collector’s item as it is an actual guidebook.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will launch exclusively on the Wii U on December 4 this year, worldwide. Stay tuned for more coverage.
