Yakuza Kiwami 2 is the upcoming full remake of the original Yakuza 2, made in the Dragon Engine. Yakuza 2 is widely held to be the best story in the series, but the game, being an early one in Sega’s popular action franchise, has aged rather poorly on the mechanics front, which has led to many players being unable to experience it as intended.
The upcoming remake will hopefully change that, and let new Yakuza fans see the great story and character interactions that comprised the original game. These include interactions between series protagonist Kiryu, and Kaoru Sayama, a detective with he Osaka police department whom Kiryu runs into quite often over the course of the game. A brand new trailer for Yakuza Kiwami 2, which you can see for yourself below, shows us just some of the character driven moments the two will share, and the confrontations that will lead to their forbidden romance.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 launches on August 28, exclusively for the PS4.
