Yakuza 0 was an amazing game, and it acted as the gateway into the Yakuza series for many players in the west. And if those players want to see the continuation of Kiryu’s story, the good news is that they don’t have to wait too long- Yakuza Kiwami, a full fledged remake of the original Yakuza game on the PS2 that kickstarted the series to begin with, is almost here.

The game is due out on August 29 in North America and Europe, and ahead of the release, Sega has gone ahead and released a brand new trailer for the game, to show us what to expect. Anyone who has played Yakuza will instantly recognize everything in this game, and feel right at home- this trailer shows off many series staples, including the many fighting styles and moves at Kiryu’s disposal.

Yakuza Kiwami‘s release will be followed by the release of Yakuza 6, which released in Japan earlier this year, and which has been confirmed for a western release. Yakuza 6 marks the end of the Yakuza franchise following Kiryu’s story- while more games will come, Kiryu’s tale is almost at an end.

Before then, though, let’s enjoy Kiwami.
