Yakuza Studio Working On New IP For Consoles

You are already dead?

Yakuza 6 is out, and concludes Kiryu’s story, while the upcoming Yakuza Kiwami 2 will conclude the remake series for the franchise. We already have a Kiryu-less new Yakuza game announced. And in addition to all of this, the Yakuza studio is also already at work on a brand new IP that it will launch for consoles.

Speaking to Famitsu, Sega Sammy CEO Haruki Satomi confirmed that the studio has already begun work on a brand new franchise, noting that this new game will hit consoles- though, given Sega’s definition of the term, that could mean anything from coming to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or all three, or any combination in between.

Whatever it is, hopefully it is revealed soon. Yakuza is, after all, absolutely awesome, and I can’t wait to see what the studio will try its hands on next. Meanwhile, Yakuza 6 is available now on PS4 exclusively, so go get that.
