You Can’t Rename Your Guardian In Destiny Without Changing Your XBL or PSN ID

Well, shit.

Destiny

A lot of you probably made your Xbox Live or PSN IDs years ago. You know, when you were young. When ‘MeganFaxXOXOFan’ didn’t seem like such a bad name to have online.

But, you know, you probably don’t like to be reminded of your crush on Megan Fox anymore. You probably appreciate the fact that most games let you change your name for multiplayer matches to something different than your Gamertag or PSN ID. So, you know, Destiny will probably disappoint you in that regard, since the weekly update from Bungie is reporting that you will be required to keep your Gamertag or PSN ID as the name of your Guardian. The only way to change your name is to change your Gamertag or your PSN ID. And, in fact, since you can’t really change your PSN ID at all, you’re kind of screwed if you play the version of Destiny that Bungie seems to be promoting most heavily.

Unless, you make a new account and start all over! That sounds like a great idea!
