Zelda Wii U to challenge series conventions – Eiji Aonuma

Posted By | On 01st, Dec. 2011

It’s a widely known fact that Nintendo is working on two Zelda games. One for the 3DS and the other for their next-gen system, Wii U. As the system is scheduled to launch next year, Nintendo has revealed that they will take more risks with the Zelda formula this time.

In the latest Nintendo Power issue, Eiji Aonuma of Nintendo says that they will challenge the series conventions with the next Zelda. He also mentions that they did take some risks with Skyward Sword as well. Did it work? You bet it did. You can read our review here.

“Skyward Sword is a title where we took aim at all the conventions of the Zelda series. While that may have been difficult, I think that confronting those challenges resulted in something that has a great deal of value,” he said.

“When it comes to Wii U, we’ll obviously want to add new elements that take advantage of the capabilities of the platform.

“I think using that as a lens through which we once again challenge the conventions of Zelda is more important than just making another Zelda game.

“With that in mind, please expect big things from the Zelda series to come!”

So do we, Aonuma! So do we. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
