Zynga lays off staff during Apple’s iPad Mini event hoping no one would notice

Ouch.

Zynga has done something that should not be viewed in positive light–it has laid off 100 staff. Justin Maxwell who has worked for a lot of tech companies broke this news first on Twitter.

“Zynga just laid off 100+ employees (incl. my friends) in its Austin office during the Apple Event. Gave them 2 hours to vacate,” he tweeted.

Now this is an utterly horrible news because  Zynga tried to bury it during the recent Apple event where the iPad Mini was announced. They were hoping that no one would notice this and everything would go smoothly but they were wrong.

These employees were apparently located at Zynga’s Austin office. The company was recently sued by EA for copying their intellectual property and are going through one of the worst financial situations ever.

The iPad Mini was rumoured for a long time and has been revealed and priced at $329, and is also quite smaller than the iPad 2 and the Next iPad. We will keep you updated once we hear more from this.
