Bladestorm Nightmare

Speaking to Bladestorm: Nightmare’s producer Akihiro Suzuki, GamingBolt can confirm that the game will run at 1080p and 30 frames per second on the PlayStation 4. However the Xbox One version does not have a definite resolution which possibly points towards a dynamic resolution.

“So talking about the PlayStation 4 to start with, it’s going to be 1080p at thirty frames per second. On the PlayStation 3, again it’s going to be at thirty frames per second and it’s going to be at 720p. With the Xbox One it’s going to use auto-scaling, so there’s no specific resolution,” Suzuki said to GamingBolt in a recent interview.

Dynamic resolution isn’t exactly unheard of. Previous games from Koei Tecmo such as Dead or Alive 5 were rendered with dynamic resolution on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and more recently Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and Dying Light also utilized the same approach on the Xbox One.

Bladestorm: Nightmare releases next month on the PS4 and Xbox One.

30FPS for a mousu. A genre traditionally known for 60FPS and fast paced action. That is rather pathetic.

Consoles hit the bottom of the barrel quickly this gen.

    • Ian Upthagrove

It’s not the consoles. Its the developers. Common sense.

    • corvusmd

Exactly. Several Devs have said that NEITHER console is even close to being tapped yet, so if that is the case…it’s obviously a Dev commitment/time/money issue.

    • Guest

Exactly, so why not 4K/60fps? You people are such apologists and delusional

    • Guest

Yes you’re right, they could have done 1080p 60fps on both systems, heck they could have achieved that on the PS3/360 if they wanted to, but nooo! These devs decided to just leave at 1080/30 fps and have a dynamic res on the x1 instead. Why devs, why? You could have made it 4K/60fps It’s not like system specs matter, so why would you choose such specs?

    • Ian Upthagrove

      ignorant much.

    • Jecht_Sin

I’m pretty much sure that was sarcasm.

I agree and yet these fanboys fight like cats and dogs over these disappointing systems

    • bardock5151

Says the PS4 fantard. How’s your precious PS4 going to mean anything when AMD and NVIDIA start crushing your hopes and dreams about a PS4 master race?

  • efnet

and yet im still enjoying my consoles

    • Guest

That’s nice, and so it’s everybody else. And guess what? There are practically twice as many PS4 owners.

    • Starman

      Who the fk cares …

    • bardock5151

Does that make you feel all big in the pants? Or do you like just spouting random crap?

    • YOUR NAME

      where did you study maths?

  • jent

You really should fix the title of this article. It makes it sound like getting the game running at 1080p on the PS4 was a nightmare.

    • TheWayItsMeantToBePlayed

Considering the low power APU trying to render a massive battlefield, I’m not surprised in the least if it was.

  • corvusmd

…and in a blind test, no one will know the difference.

This game isn’t maxing out EITHER console, so clearly it’s just a choice of how much effort this Japanese dev was willing to put into either console. Hopefully this is the sort of thing DX12 can help with….making it easier for Devs to get more potential out of the console without adding Dev time.

Or it could just be because the system is weaker. I mean its not like we haven’t seen this happen already a bazillion times. Everything you said is just pure speculation based on what you hope it is. Deal in facts, it’ll make you look better.

    • Starman

      STFU fanboy…

    • Jason Mounce

Cause clearly you’re not a fanboy for rejecting Facts that one hardware is statistically proven to be weaker.

    • Jecht_Sin

Oh, feel free to replace “statistically” with “factually”.

    • Jason Mounce

I already used the word facts and statistics in the same post :l

    • corvusmd

OK we’ll deal in facts, please list the bazillion times PS4 had a better looking game.

    • ChaoticP

What you say would have more merit if the Xbox One wasn’t already running games that look several times better than this with tons of enemies on screen. Xbox One is a weaker system but optimization makes a massive difference. Xbox is typically treated as an afterthought by Japanese developers so given all that it isn’t far fetched to believe we’re looking at a poorly optimized game.

  • Starman

The only fanboys here are the ones who spend $2500 on a pc to play a handful of games and not use it as a tool .. in fact you;ll are idiots

  • Mats Leven

every xbox fans said that they don’t care resolution , because they don’t want to be a loser !!!! HAHAHAHA xbox always lose on resoution and framerate

    • ChaoticP

Actually most games have more stable framerate on the Xbox One, but hey you can have your petty resolution victory.

  • AsianGamer

how many games are omega force making?

  • Who cares about resolution on boxone or ps4, if this is still a gen seven game?
Counting fun by pixels doesn’t even work anywhere else.
We should concentrate on getting finished products that surpass their older installments.. anywhere .. thats all.

  • Fay_Z

another deferred rendered game, another 900p/720p game for xbone, developers should optimize their engine for each platform, hopefully dx12 will make that process easier for lazy devs

  • XanderZane41

They obviously aren’t using DX12 with this game. That’s too bad. Still 30fps sucks. So this dynamic scaling will have the game at 900P – 1080P depending on what’s happening in the game. We know this is just a port. Nothing was done on the XB1 version to even try to get it to 1080P. No optimization at all. All these Japanese companies are doing this crap with XB1 games, because they know the game isn’t going to sell all in Japan. So they put no effort into making the game as good as it possibly could be. They focus purely on the PS4 version and put all their effort into that platform and then just port the game to the XB1. Konami has been doing this with all their titles, which is why I don’t buy Konami games anymore.

  • Terrible title.
