Call of Duty Black Ops 3

Though Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be at 60 FPS on the Xbox One and PS4, it’s been revealed that the previous gen consoles will be targeting 30 FPS.

Beenox creative director Thomas Wilson talked about it to Develop, stating that the dev team tried to run the game at 60 FPS. “I’d say that we tried to hit that target [60fps]. We’re basically looking more at something like 30fps. But still, the experience is very enjoyable, otherwise it’s not Call of Duty.”

Call of Duty has been hitting a fixed 60 FPS frame rate throughout the years, especially in multiplayer given the twitch-based nature of the combat. However, with previous gen consoles, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has been running into several limitations – the single player campaign has already been ditched with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions only having multiplayer and Zombies mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is out on November 6th for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Thoughts on it running at 30 FPS on previous gen? Let us know in the comments.
