Ever since Destiny was announced, Bungie have only showcased the PlayStation 4 version of the game. There is no update on how the Xbox One version is shaping up. GamingBolt got in touch with Jason Sussman who is the Senior Environment Artist at Bungie to ask whether the Xbox One version will be dumbed down compared to the PS4 version.

“We are working really hard so that the best experience and the quality of the game we are trying to deliver is equal across all platforms, as much as we possibly can,” Jason explained to GamingBolt.

And did the team faced any issues while developing on the Xbox One specifically the eSRAM? “Each console has their own specifications along with their tweaks. Every time you are working on cross platform [game], there are little differences between each console and we are making sure that the game looks great across all of them, and it does, it really looks good. I think we have succeeded.”

“We did not had any problems across any of the platforms,” Jason said to GamingBolt.

Destiny will launch across the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. For more on Destiny, check out its hub page here.

    Ok. Typos galore but ok.

Hoping some folks comment who have played it in beta to any extent. I’ll be on the xbox one and I’ll give this a try since TESO won’t be out. My MMO fix although this may be a rental for me. Maybe I’ll give $5 on a pre-order for beta access

Bungie has a lot of Xbox experience and since they are used to working with on die ram from the 360 taking advantage of the same design with the Xbox one’s esram shouldn’t be an issue.

I played the alpha on ps4 this past weekend and while the game has solid visuals with some nice effects it doesn’t do anything mind blowing. It is a cross gen title after all. I’d imagine the older consoles will lose the particle effects and some of the lighting effects. There are lots of things floating in the air and while most of them are done with post processing it still uses resources. A resolution downgrade and slightly lower res textures and that game will run just fine on ps3 and Xbox 360.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was a mix of halo and phantasy star online. I was a huge PSO addict so that’s a good thing. My only complaint was the really long load times but its an alpha so it might change. Can’t wait for the beta. Hopefully I get into the xb1 version cause I’d really like to see how they compare. I expect parity on this one. Then at release its going yo come down to whatever version my friends go with. I don’t care either way which I get especially since they are both 1080p/60 so as long as i can play with buddies I’m happy.

  • Glad this game will be able to achieve 1080p/30fps with the June SDK on XB1. More games should be able to reach that as well now!

    • HisDivineOrder

Didn’t read that here. I read that they were “trying” to keep the quality the same.

“Trying” is not succeeding. Plus, the definition of “quality” is so subjective. I’ve read many developers who’ll say the Xbox One version running at a lower resolution is not “less quality” or “dumbed down.”

Of course, they’d be wrong and they’re saying that because they want to sell copies of the game for the inferior console. Even the Forza Horizon 2 developer’ll tell you that 1080p is key to making a game look great.

    • Guest

Thats bull, you can definitely tell the difference from further than 2-3 ft. You should have your eyes checked. Nice little lie you tell yourself to excuse/justify the inferior system. But i do agree that the differences between 1080p and 900p screenshots are hard to tell apart, but not so once its on your tv, you can definitely. Next you’ll be telling me that the eye cant see the difference after 24fps. Let me guess, you’re gonna post some stupid site that backs up your ridiculous 2-3 foot claim.

    • You really need to calm down and enjoy the weekend. Grab a beer and chill…

Drinking now partner, enjoying my weekend. Loving how the ladies are looking too.

    • Geez, seriously? Most people would be talking to the ladies rather than commenting on a bbs board while out and about…

    • Guest

Dawg, it took me a couple of secs to post that. Don’t get to stupid about it.

    • Guest

Why? I thought resolution didnt matter, and barely makes a difference? Oh how you fanboys love to change your tune and flip flop all over the place.

    • Guest

Resolution only matters when it comes to screaming about clouds and directx special sauce.

    • Guest

Exactly, resolution doesnt matter til the X1 can do it, then it matters all the way from here to kingdom come. Such phonies.

    • I never said graphics don’t matter. Personally, I think graphics rates 2nd in importance next to gameplay which is 1st. I do believe we’ll see more 1080p graphics on XB1 once the June SDK starts being used/implemented by dev’s. As for DX12 I’m not sure how much impact that will have on XB1 to be honest. Hopeful for some improvement b/c of threading on the primary CU but at the same time expecting more drastic improvement on the PC as XB1 already has API’s that are close to the metal…

    • Guest

A 10% GPU TF boost isn’t anywhere near enough to cover a jump from 900p to 1080p, unless you don’t mind taking a framerate hit.

    • Well, will see if more games come out at 1080p after the June SDK is implemented by devs…

    • Guest

Ok, thats a sensible response, i can give you some respect for that. At least you’re not delusional (and yes that a compliment coming from me). And i take it you make “CPU” not CU” since these system actually do have things called “CU’s”.

    • Not everyone is a fanboy, try not to make assumptions.

  • HisDivineOrder

    My guess:

    PS4 – 1080p30
    Xbox One – 720p30
    Xbox 360 – 600p30
    PS3 – 540p30

    PC version – 2160p120.

Oh, Bungie, I wonder why did you delay the PC version that would upstage all other versions again? 😉

    • Guest

Yeah and the UFC devs said they had the game running at 1080p 30fps on the PS4 and X1 months before release, Battlefield Hardline is supposed to 1080p 60fps yet the demo is only 900p. Point is these devs can say and will say anything they want to sell you on the s**t. So til it comes out and proves it, I aint buying it. And according to this article they arent having any issues other then some minor differences, with any of the versions (that includes the PS3/360 version. What a load of crap!

    • Guest

Yup devs are unloading all kinds of bull about res and framerate that doesn’t match the final result.

“Bungie says they will get it to 1080p 30” doesn’t mean “Bungie confirmed absolutely it’s running 1080p 30 at launch”.

    • Guest

Seriously, i dont know when people are going to wake up and stop being so gullible about this crap. Devs lie all the time. You can tell Bungie is just PRing away and trying to be as diplomatic as possible here. Fanboys are dumb and believe anything they think backs up their nonsense.

    • Guest

This happened before with Wolfenstein. Turns out Xbox One drops res to 960×1080 to maintain 60 fps.

They just keep grasping at special sauce and lying to themselves.

    • Guest

Yet KZ isnt 1080p because of that res, even thought they are using reprojection techniques to make the final frame equivalent to 1080p. But somehow Wolfenstein is a real 1080p game cuz its on the X1, when it uses no such tricks to make the final image better than a average 960x1080p screen. These people are sick and full of ish! Yet they all thumb each other up and give each other agrees and “well said”, and mark others as trolling or thumb them down/disagree with them. They dont like the truth, all the meanwhile, the rest of the world wants the PS4 not the X1.

    • Guest

Factual PS4 Hardware Advantages: +6 CUs, +540 GFlops (40% greater) or more, +16 ROPs, +6 ACEs/CQs, better GPGPU support, better performing CPU, faster unified memory, and less OS overhead.

No amount of directx special sauce will change this, yup.

      What a trippy conversation

    • slumdog hundredaire

I trust Bungie over you though….

    • *PC version – 0p0fps

Cuz, you know, it isn’t happening? “Delayed?” You wish.

    • Guest

It will come to PC eventually.

    • Keep dreaming.

    • Guest

You must LOVE being constantly wrong. Everything you predict or claim is the opposite of reality.

    • I predict that you grow up and pull your head out of your a$$ soon.

  • Guest

Hm, so they are claiming that they’ve had no issues on the X1 and that it’ll be the same, yet they recently just announced that it will be 1080p on the X1, meaning that it wasnt always the same. So im smelling more typical dev/pub PR bs. These devs nowaday will argue that there is no difference between 720p and 1080p just to sell you the game. They are becoming nothing more than snake oil salesman. Cant trust anyone that just wants your money. They’ll tell you anything you want to hear to get it.

    • Guest

Most devs have been deceptive this gen with performance differences. They want to sell games not admit one version is worse and lose out on sales.

Microsoft fanboys take it as a sign parity is being reached every time, then Digital Foundry crushes their dreams.

    • Guest

People are so stupid its not even funny. Its blatantly obvious whats going on, but these dumb fanboy cultist just cant accept the truth.

  • V3

Gamesutra, Gaming Bolt,Latin Times, Cinema Blend, and The inquisitr are all Sony fanboy websites which with psuedo journalism that just copies stories from actual legit websites and spin it for anti-xbox click-bait.

  • Guest

Oh man, the Sony paupers are crying, AGAIN!

    • Guest

You must have issues to literally hate a piece of plastic and people who like gaming on it, or anyone who remotely understands technology.

8+ million PS4s and counting. Nothing you say will stop it, you are helpless. Keep lying and hating while everyone else ignores you.
