DriveClub is shaping up to be a solid new franchise for Sony and PlayStation 4. The game features breathtaking visuals and scenery, and one could easily term it as one of the best looking racing games of all times. But that is not all, Evolution Studios have also implemented a dynamic snow weather system for the game.

According to a video posted by CoPlaNet CPN, [Site here], DriveClub has one of the most realistic simulations of snow in racing games. When it turns dark, each of the snow particles will be dynamically lit. You can see that in the screenshots which we have cropped from the video. It seems that Evolution Studios utilized the almost one year of extra time in polishing up the game to all new standards.

The bad news is that the weather system will only be available after launch. You can check out the full video here. The dynamic lighting of snow is right at the end of the video. DriveClub releases next month exclusively for the PlayStation 4. Stay tuned for more news and update and let us know your thoughts in the comments sections below.

OOOOOOH we can see snow , well if the headlights are hitting the snow , then we better see it , it’s a given . My question is , does the weather affect the outcome of car performance ??? looks good but Most of who played recently said very clunky , and gameplay lacks …if so ,not a good look , no pun intended .

    • demfax

      Yes weather affects car performance.

MOST impressions of “who played recently” at E3 2014, Gamescom 2014, and the recent beta test were positive. Stop spreading LIES.

Driveclub got great impressions at E3 2014, it’s like a next-gen PGR with connected social features and club competition. Most E3 2014 impressions state it plays well and looks great.

Driveclub is channeling Project Gotham Racing, one of Xbox’s most beloved arcade racers. Those games didn’t have any customization beyond paint jobs and you know what? They were still amazing. It’s an arcade racer, different from sim racers, it doesn’t necessarily need fine tuning customizations. Not inherently better or worse.

Closed and open world racers are different experiences, not inherently better or worse than one another.

Weather is confirmed free in a patch soon after launch. It was demoed in-game to journalists at E3 2014 and demoed at Gamescom 2014, it’s basically finished.

Framerate is confirmed locked at 30 and the game engine updates faster than the framerate for better controller response.

The PS+ Version of Driveclub includes all game modes, the Platinum trophy, online play, 11 tracks, and 10 cars. It’s being offered free to PS+ users at launch. It’s more than “a demo”. Writing on the PlayStation Blog, manager Fred Dutton confirmed “DriveClub will be in addition to your regular PlayStation Plus allocation,” he elaborated in response to a fan.

Driveclub PS+ Edition doesn’t take up a slot on October 2014 PS+ games, you still get two free PS4 games in addition to Driveclub.

The PS+ Version of Driveclub includes all game modes, the Platinum trophy, online play, 11 tracks, and 10 cars. It’s being offered free to PS+ users at launch. It has far more features than a demo.

Nobody is offering full retail AAA games on PS+ at launch. Is anyone else offering anything remotely approaching Driveclub PS+ Edition, basically giving away a good portion of the game? No, it’s unprecedented for an AAA retail game and a good thing.

      Driveclub beta tester impressions:

“Gameplay really is fantastic. I’ve played a lot of racing games. From Burnout, PGR, Need For Speed series, Motorstorm, Gran Turismo, Forza (though not the Horizon series) and more. The car handling feels semi realistic, so a mix or realism and PGR style arcade, though I think it leans more towards realism. Plenty of content/events/challenges.

Graphically it is the best racing game I’ve played (haven’t played PC racing games). At first I didn’t think it looked that great, but then you keep racing and it just hits you. It’s stunning, and just feels so rich. The environments just feel like they’ve had so much attention and it really brings the races to life. I haven’t really experienced this before, it’s just very dense. Motion blur is really well implemented, it doesn’t feel distracting at all.”

Is the frame rate locked luke tlou? Cus it wasn’t.

    • demfax

According to DF it’s 30 locked (or very close to locked).

    • Psionicinversion

      driveclub is locked 30?

    • demfax

“From a direct digital feed of Sony’s live Gamescom demo, it’s a convincing, constant 30fps for the Scotland and Norway stages. And thankfully there are no frame-pacing issues to speak of, nor tearing during the PS4-driven gameplay.” DF

    • Psionicinversion

yah cus a buttery smooth 30 = 60 fps, shut up you know nothing. buttery smooth is still slower, maybe the game compensates for that who knows but as naughty dog loves 60fp and that what there going for for there next games. If ND the home of ther ICE team wants 60fps then anything less = weak. cant argue with the house of sony 😀

    • Failz

Your logic “This game has butterflys = This game is better” No wonder Sony keep providing your type of fanbase with visuals over gameplay.
      Greatness awaits.

  • bardock5151

FH2 still gonna be racing GOTY.

    • Duke

Project Cars is shaping up to be a far better game.

    • bardock5151

On PC it’ll be good, consoles not so much. The exclusives will hinder its sales, along with other game releases.

    • andy

It will??? Completely different physics then is it? Or will it have 5 times the cars with the power of its retail next gen DVD format release?

    • bardock5151

Competition, Forza and GT are too engrained in the consoles fanbase. Either way Forza series is more complete and proven.

    • DaneBohan

That’s your opinion, but I don’t see how an arcade can beat GT, a full simulation racing game. And proven what?

    • Agent_Blade

The Crew will be way better then FH2.

    • bardock5151

Ha sure thing, maybe compared to drive club the crew wins but not FH2

    • Psionicinversion

no the crew is sh#t serioursly i drove thorugh grand conyon, got to las vegas the textitres are rough… its not next gen game… its sa ps3 game

    • Michael Norris

FH2 looks like crap, sorry but DC looks to be a better game. Also,i don’t care about open world for a racing game.FH2 won’t suck but it isn’t anything new just like DC it’s a racing game.

    • Jecht_Sin

      Nah.

    • bardock5151

      You’re so articulate.

    • Trim Dose

too bad those words aren’t true, if were I would buy FH2. I would rather play the Crew 😉

    • bardock5151

Then I feel sorry for you:)

  • bleedsoe9mm

rain in december , snow in january

  • Russell Gorall

Bad quality, folks. Looks like a cell phone shot of a TV.

    • Ritsujun

      This.

  • bardock5151

Could be the fact its a poor shot but is it only snowing in front of the headlights?

  • PachterStation

The race is heating up. Forza Horizon 2, DriveClub and Project Cars. Gran Turismo 7 will probably be years off, but Turismo died after Turismo 4. Forza 5 wasn’t much of a step up from Forza 4, plus the track and car count was a joke. Sequels to PGR, Road Rash, Wave Race and Shox are top of the list. Have to mentioned The Crew, but that’s more of an arcade racer like Ridge Racer. After Ridge Racer 5, it ran out of gas. Blur and Split Second didn’t fair too well. Burnout, only Paradise was any good, but again, it was an arcade racer. I couldn’t care less about another Need for Speed. As for Shox 2, going off the Need for Speed, EA would probably mess it up. Would probably be the case with Road Rash.

  • Starman

First of all we play football in snow , we don’t race …

  • No Open World, No Fun. I’ll still give it a try though.

  • Guest

Still a mediocre game where you can bounce off grass and railings without losing any speed.

    • demfax

Wrong. Death dealer/lionheart you blindly hate any Sony exclusive no matter how acclaimed it is by critics and gamers.
