Epic Games president interested in continuing Gears of War franchise

Epic President, Mike Capps, said in an interview at GDC that there could be more content left to come in the ever popular Gears of War franchise.

“It’s a really good question. If no one buys Gears 3 [laughs] I’ll tell you what the future is right now. I’m hoping it’ll be the biggest entertainment launch this year, but it might not be. So it is definitely a trilogy and the story is a trilogy; I think people will get that experience when they reach the end. I don’t want gamers to feel cheated. At the same time, I’ve worked on the comics, we’ve got the novels… there’s a ton of stories in this universe. There’s certainly more space to tell a different story if we wanted to,” he said.

“We don’t have an exact plan for ‘here’s what we’re doing next’ but I think we’ll wait and see and maybe give folks a little rest for a while.”

More GoW is always a good thing in my book.

Thanks to industry gamers for the info.

Its a great franchise certainly, in fact it was the first game I played fully on co-op before even considering playing it in single player and the first game I played when I got an Xbox last year. I hoped to get on the GOW3 Beta but my mate talked me into changing from Xbox to PS3 with my Bulletstorm order and then cancelled his copy with a week to go and never told me… git. I will be hoping I can find a way to get on the beta at some point but if not I know I’ll be getting this at some point as the other 2 are sitting in my games collection and are seriously class games.

Ladies and Gentleman meet Microsofts new cashcow – Having flogged Halo as much as they can its hardly surprisng that Gears will also have a similar path laid out for it!

of course they are gonna continue Gears, why wouldn’t they. Compelling characters, Interesting set pieces / villains. I cant wait to hopefully save Carmine, reminds me of saving private Ryan (someone has to continue the family name). And Halo isn’t anymore “flogged” then any other franchise out there, do we really need street fighter 4, street fighter 4 turbo, street fighter 4 super turbo awesome in 3d…lol…but back to gears, I hope there are some underwater elements in gears 3, nothing too long or honky, just a simple “go back to Jacinto and find something” swimming level…just a thought.

The more gears the better as far as I am concerned. Gears of War: Exile is rumored 2 b a Kinect game, my guess is they will announce it @ E3 this yr.
