Expect Nintendo Switch Shortages To Continue All Through 2017, Says Industry Insider and Analyst

Oh, Nintendo...

Posted By | On 20th, Jun. 2017

The Nintendo Switch has been topping charts worldwide ever since its release, but yesterday, it ceded the first place to the PS4 in the US- Sony’s console outsold Nintendo’s during the month of May, and Switch shortages, which have grown both chronic and acute at this point, are being blamed for this.

If you are hoping for or expecting this situation to get better over time, you may be in for a wait- apparently, Switch production is entirely capped at the moment, and these shortages are expected to continue or the foreseeable future, at least through this year, according to Daniel Ahmad, industry insider and analyst better known to many by his informal tag ‘ZHugeEX’.

Component shortages are being blamed for this- which, if reports are to be believed, makes sense, given that Nintendo is having to square off against the likes of Apple to be able to procure the parts it needs for the Switch (which is not necessarily a battle it could win).

Hopefully for everybody’s sake, this is a situation that resolves itself soon, and Switch stock can soon normalize.
