Fable Legends

The upcoming Fable Legends, the next installment in Lionhead and Microsoft’s fantasy series, is almost here- the free to play asymmetric action game will have a focus on multiplayer, and we can rest assured that it will all go off without a hitch. You see, the game will be using dedicated servers powered by the cloud.

The development team, which made this announcement at GDC, initially tried peer to peer, but realized that using Xbox Compute was best for their vision of the game, allowing, as it does, extra security, stable connectivity, and the removal of host advantage.

In the same presentation, Lionhead also confirmed that matchmaking for the game would take into account the players already in a given game (so that you never have to see a clone of your character running around in the same game as yours). It’s an incredibly small but thoughtful touch, and one that I cannot believe we are getting for the first time now.

Fable Legends launches later this year. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information.
