Final Fantasy 15 Teased For Nintendo Switch

Square Enix has released Final Fantasy 15 for the PS4 and Xbox One, with a Windows version, as well as a mobile version for iOS and Android in the works- and now, they may be looking to bring it over to the last major platform that hasn’t received it as of yet.

Final Fantasy 15 director Hajime Tabata appeared on Twitch in a stream today to discuss the upcoming Final Fantasy 15 projects; while on there, he teased the possibility of a Switch version of the game, too. “We can’t give you any complete solid details at the moment,” he said, “But there’s another certain console out there that you may be thinking of, it sounds a little bit like your name Twitch.”

There is literally only one console that sounds like Twitch…

Regardless, Final Fantasy 15 on the Nintendo Switch would be a huge symbolic win for Nintendo- because this will be the first time in 23 years, since 1994’s Final Fantasy 6, that a mainline Final Fantasy game makes it over to the system. Of course, it is unclear exactly how Square would make this happen- the game is incredibly technically demanding, and the Switch, for all its merits, isn’t the most technically impressive system. Or will this just be the mobile edition?

It will be interesting to see how Square goes about this, that is for sure.

      Windows edition will be way to far ahead. Best you can hope for is 4k 30 at best

    • regardless of frame rate, there are 4k textures, increased polygon count, special effects, etc that could be improved as well. All we’ve heard is 4K 30, but if they are doing extra work on a Windows version, I would assume some of that carries over to the X b/c of the shared SDK…

      no, alot of the enhancements is including nvidia gamework features which are far to power hungry for one X and most GPUs when you turn them all on, if you turn on Turf effects, HFTS and VXAO basing it on current games that use it youll be looking at about a 25-30fps frame drop + what ever the smoke and fire stuff does. One X might get 4K textures if they bother updating it and dont think there increasing poly counts. dont expect it to look like the PC version when everything is maxed out, one X simply doesnt have the power

      also what shared SDK? Windows edition is completely seperate build to the console version thats why its taken so long for them to do it.

    • When I say sfx I don’t mean the Nvidia api’s – obviously those won’t work on XB1 b/c it’s an AMD APU. I went particle effects, reflections, etc. As for polygon count, will see. Textures is very likely as a lot of other X enhanced games are getting 4k textures.

      No, Windows is later b/c of all the other enhancements like Nvidia API’s and completing other DLC. Same with why GTAV came out on PC later. X SDK is shared with Windows SDK, which is why a lot of PC games are easier to port now to XB1.

      no, PC came later because they didnt even make the game with a PC version in mind. The dev even said they would have to spend about a year re-engineering the game for the PC. Adding nvidias stuff doesnt take long relatively speaking its a middleware designed to be easish to implement.

      GTA5 only came out on PC later because they wanted to spend alot more time on optimisation and stuff. Plus Rockstar knew people would triple dip. Thatll be the reason RDR2 will come out 6 months after console release and the head guy hasn’t denied a release when directly asked.

      nvidias stuff can work on X1 actually. Apparently sea of thieves water is based on WaveWorks. Most of nvidias stuff is written in opencl now so can be run on AMD hardware. Look at Witcher 3 hairworks can run on both. Not sure why HFTS is nvidia only and Nvidia Flex is nvidia only, pretty much everything else can be run on AMD if the dev wants it to. VXAO might be nvidia only to because of how it uses nvidia hardware of it

      and that SDK thing your talking about only applies to UWP games

    • There’s more similarities b/w MS’s multiple SDK’s than just UWP games, lol.
