The difference is startling.

Update: Looks like the original video was taken down. However, here are two GIFS showcasing the off screen gameplay footage.

It seems that Microsoft’s biggest announcement for E3 2015 has been leaked. Gears of War remastered which was rumored to be in development for the Xbox One is out of the bag. Youtube user EMK KrAuSeR™ has apparently got his hands on a playable build of Gears of War for the Xbox One. You can check out the new offscreen gameplay footage and screenshots below this article.

Microsoft have outright denied the game’s existence and yet vaguely teased the game in the past. At this point this is pretty much a solid confirmation that the game is in the works. However we are not sure whether this Gears of War is the one that Black Tusk Studios are currently working on when Microsoft announced their acquisition of the franchise. There might be two Gears of War in the works, a remastered version and a new entry into the series. But this is merely an assumption at this point and we will keep you updated as this builds.

There is no release date and Microsoft has not officially announced the game yet. But given that the game has already been leaked, it makes sense for Microsoft to take control of the situation and confirm the remaster for the Xbox One.

Neogaf user has shared two screens comparing the original game and the remastered version. The difference is startling.

I’m sure it would since the Unreal Engine 3 received quite a few updates since the original Gears came out. Sadly the game will still be held back by the limitations of that game engine that we are so used this past decade. Hopefully it can manage full HD on Xbone too since the Unreal Engine 3 Mortal Kombat X, and probably Batman Arkham Knight too, couldn’t.
Wouldn’t say the difference is “startling” though, e.g. there is that trademark waxy looking Unreal engine 3 floor right there in the first leaked Xbone screen.

Looks good, not mind blowing tho. Certainly not on the level of Halo 2 Anniversary. But I got alot of curb stompin to do…

I highly doubt that was going to be Microsoft’s biggest announcement at E3 because if it is, then this will not be a great year for my xbox one. This is just a remastered game – they most definitely must have more exciting news than remastered games I already own on my 360.

  • Dr.Ghettoblaster

Remake of 1 sounds great, but much rather prefer a Gears of War 1-J (or 1-3) HD remaster collection on 1 disc (ala Halo:MCC)

1080p/60fps/1 disc collection is all I’m really looking for here (as opposed to individual remakes sold separately)

No you don’t, Let them focus on making 1 game as best they can, instead of dividing that focus by 4. This way you will get a better experience with that 1 game.
