Halo 5: Guardians, the fifth entry in the Halo franchise, was a notable omission from the list of existing Xbox One games that Microsoft announced would be getting an update for 4K graphics for the Xbox One X at E3 last month. However, it looks like Halo fans need not have worried- 343 Industries have just announced that Halo 5 will be getting an update for 4K graphics for the Xbox One X after all.

The functionality is expected to come in an update for the game later this year- 343 Industries promised to share more information as the update draws near. For now, we can only hope that Halo 5 won’t lose its native 60fps framerate in trying to be 4K- and at the same time, we can also hope that it manages to hit 4K natively (especially since it actually wasn’t much of a looker).

Halo 5: Guardians is available exclusively on the Xbox One- are you excited for the 4K update? Let us know in the comments section below!

343 has already confirmed Halo 5 will be running in native 4K “True 4K” on the Xbox One X so there’s no doubt it will be native 4K 60fps

Can’t wait to see what it looks like.

    • Wei Feng

Under Microsoft’s term “true 4k” can mean anything
      -salty 720p upscale
      -dynamic resolution
      -Sparse and praise anyway rendering

All ok now since it can’t really do uncompromised 4K native right xfans?.

343 is trash and it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s checkerboard 4K. Most game faux 4K on the overpriced Xbox One X.

You’re trying way to hard my friend, it’s always funny when someone who don’t even play halo always have something super negetive to say.

Those are called ponyisms. They don’t like their console but they hate yours.

  • Mr Xrat

Oh wait, it’s another unimpressive looking first party game, it’ll probably manage it easily with the usual cutbacks the base version had.

  • Wei Feng

Digital Foundry pixel count review will be fun.
More now as Xfans claiming any versions of True 4k is all native now on their “monster”

  • Psionicinversion

so Halo 5 will actually look good and not complete garbage with extremely low anistropic filtering. now all they have to do is put it on PC for the true uncomprimised expereince
