Jaffe: “60 bucks is a shit ton to ask” for games

David Jaffe, Eat Sleep Play lead attempted to explain the reason for Twisted Metal delay as extra time required for “polish.” But he also mentioned that games cost a lot to nowadays and if they’re going to ship a product, they’re going to make sure it justifies the cost.

“Any money is a lot to ask from someone for entertainment. 60 bucks is a shit ton to ask for so if we are going to charge that, you deserve our best… even if it takes a little longer than we anticipated.”

He stated that the game isn’t finished and requires a lot more work before being ready. And it has absolutely nothing to do with the crowded holiday season at all. Absolutely not!

“So imagine about 250 of those sorts of things. Could we ship without change a single one? Totally and it would still be a really fun game. But it would not be good enough for us. And certainly not for you.”

“The extra months are really needed for polish and we feel we need more than four to six weeks of polish and tuning.”

The game is delayed and will release next year exclusively on the Playstation 3.

  • Does everything he say’s really require an article. This isn’t to kock Jaffe’s hustle, but I believe I came across an article reporting ‘Jaffe forgot to brush his teeth this morning.” or… ‘Jaffe just farted’… hows about some real news? Man.. I thought Mirror’s Edge was a great game..but I haven’t finished it yet. Can I get a press article for that statement?

Better not be “Kocking” Jaffe’s hustle.

Saying it had “nothing” to do with the AAA competition is just plain lying.

  • Not knocking his hustle.. just wanna know what I gotta do to get d*ck riders like that, that take a single 3 minute interview and blow it into 25 separate articles..each titled as one of his responses from the interview. The man’s done great things for gaming. I for one love the GOW series, never got into Twisted Metal… its got a huge following so i respect that for sure. He also makes good points (in most cases) but really…? Lindsey Lohan doesn’t even get this much press.
