PlayStation VR

Bloober Team’s Layers of Fear is one of the scarier titles to arrive this generation, even when it’s still confined to one’s screen. But what if the horror was all around you?

The development team has asked players before if they’re interested in a VR version of the game and while that decision is up in the air, GamingBolt spoke to Layers of Fear creator Rafał Basaj about PlayStation VR. Will 60 FPS be enough for VR games or should developers look at 90 FPS.

“We are glad this technology became a real thing and made such an impact on the market even before its debut. It has so much potential to show some uncanny ideas and revolutionize gaming.

“From what experience we had with VR gear we believe that 90fps does wonders, however as with all of the technology – improvements will be available with time, so 60 fps might work perfectly as well.”

Layers of Fear is out later this month for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Would you like to see it or any other game in VR? Let us know in the comments.

Valve and Oculus shared internal research recommends at least 1200×1080 per viewport and a 90Hz referesh rate.

Sony has to bolt on a reprojection unit to their underpowered console to fake 120Hz refresh. What a failure.

Such a failure that devs and those who’ve tried it love it.

      You sure failed, though.

I think 60 fps will be enough because the extra box for PSVR boosts it to 120 fps and Psionicinversion is an idiot.

From what some speculate is that many cases of nausea comes from the frame rate not being smooth enough to what our eye desires for something that is meant to simulate our surrounding, it disconnects and jars our senses. So I hope there’s a minimum limit that can be capped and understood to limit any nausea as much as possible. Though I thought it was 90/120 for VR.

Tell me why The Witness can’t work for PSVR while the PC version has VR enabled right now, John Derp

Bear in mind The Witness also runs at 900P on PS4 🙂

It doesn’t have VR enabled, it’s hidden in the settings. My guess is the PS4 version too is compatible VR but has not been activated.

Couldn’t have made this interview one article along with that other about the differences between developing on the XB1 and PS4?
