Preparing for the thunderous conclusion to the story that began in Ground Zeroes with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain? Though the game has been in the news constantly for shenanigans involving series creator Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami, it will still carry a ton of weight as the first true sequel for the series in years.
It will also carry quite a bit of weight in its download size. On the Japanese PlayStation Store, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will require a download of 25.1 GB for the PS4. The PS3 version, meanwhile, weighs in at 11.7 GB. Keep in mind that this is only for the Japanese version – there will likely be additional files requires for localization and voice acting in the West. Though not quite as big as, say, Batman: Arkham Knight, it’s still much larger than Ground Zeroes’s 3.82 GB download.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain releases on September 1st for Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC version releases on September 15th. Stay tuned for more information as we approach the game’s release.
