A couple of job listing on Microsoft’s official career website indicates that the company are working to add new features and services to the Xbox One. It seems that Microsoft are looking to take Xbox avatars to a new level, as they are looking to unify operating system and product experiences. For this purpose, they are looking for a Software Engineer that will develop, design, modify and optimize tools and pipelines for the Avatar ecosystem and work with designers, animators, artists, and other content creators on the implementation of new features.

Moving ahead, Microsoft are also looking for a Senior Software Engineer that will build products and services that allow us to run innovative programs like the Xbox Preview Program. The candidate will need to work on high performance engineering team delivering the Xbox Flighting solutions to internal and external partners and has extensive knowledge in serving world to deal with existing and upcoming Xbox products.

As usual, this information should be taken with a grain of salt since this is coming from job listings and not via an official confirmation from Microsoft. But what are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments section below.

I would love to use my avatar in a multiplayer game similar to Mario kart…

  • John Nemesh

Focusing on everything but the games…I’m sure that will work for them!

    • tplarkin7

I agree. But, if they are going to use actual in-game models (ie, the real Master Chief, or Miranda from Mass Effect), this could be cool. If it’s more Mii-clones, that would be a waste.

    • Fullgore

They seem to have the most diverse game line up so far this gen. Crimson Drag, Max the Curse of Brotherhood, Killer Instinct, Screamride, Phantom Dust, Quantum Break, Halo, Forza, Zoo Tycoon, D4, Power star Golf, Ori the Blind Forest, Sunset Overdrive, Dead Rising, Ryse, I don’t see how anyone could they they aren’t focusing on games.

For sure, they’ve been focus too much on gaming the past neary two years since launch..

Haha, man u wouldn’t even take a free ticket to Microsoft’s E3 conference would u? The iconic fanboy. Atleast you’ve no shame showing it, I guess.

    • John Nemesh

No shame at all. I reject Microsoft’s “vision” for what they want their consumers to be. I think they are toxic to the industry as a whole, and can not wait for their eventual exit from the category (soon, very soon). And no, MS has nothing that would interest me at E3, so I would decline their invitation.

“For what they want their consumers to be”. Oh I understand u now, Microsoft’s the 2015 Jim Jones, and we’re drinking the Kool-aid. Haha. Man we need to get u a therapist John. Ur gonna be blue in the face waiting for them to be “exiting the category”. I think it only reasonable to start putting in apps to Sony now. Atleast u can make some money there, as ur already part of their “vision”, whatever that means lol.

    • Poor PS Poor people

He’s THE Sony Pau per. He can’t afford proper gaming to begin with and is trying to justify his poor man’s purchase at every opportunity because he’s a failure at real life.
It’s delicious watching poor people like him go on the internet 24/7 trying to downplay a device they can’t afford and games they will never be able to play.
Looking at Sony’s lineup it’s even more delicious, because they have none whatsoever.

Can we actually have masculine avatars? Or avatars ripped from in-game models? Or the option for no avatar at all?
