Microsoft made the risky move of announcing the Xbox One Scorpio, which is due for a Holiday 2017 launch, at E3 this year- potentially, they were disincentivizing any sales for the Xbox One this year, including for their just launched Xbox One S- however, so far, with Xbox One sales actually increasing, and with the Xbox One S having had a successful launch throughout the world, it seems as though their gamble has paid off.

With that said, it doesn’t sound like we should expect Microsoft to talk about the Scorpio more any time soon- the focus for now seems to be squarely on what is on the market right now, or will be on it soon. Speaking to GameReactor, Xbox Marketing Executive Aaron Greenberg mentioned that Microsoft was, for now, focused on pushing its current line of products.

“I’d say look for us to share more on [Scorpio] next year,” he said. “Really, we’re focused on our games lineup, things like Xbox One S and all the things we’re delivering for customers this year. We feel like we have a really rich offering and its great to see things like Xbox One S already being sold out in a lot of markets. We’re seeing really strong pre-orders for a lot of our top games this holiday like Forza Horizon 3 and things like that.”

It does make sense, too- they’ve been open and transparent, and that’s good, but it also makes sense that they want their current line of games and hardware to get their time in the sun, too.
