Though plenty has been said about the Xbox One’s updates, the PS4 hasn’t nearly had as much hype. That being said, the console has had a significant number of updates as well. CEO and co-founder of Mindfield Games, which is working on the VR title P.O.L.L.E.N., Ville Kivistö talks about the efforts Sony is putting into updates when it comes to new features like VR.

“We don’t have experience in Microsoft’s updates, but we’re sure Sony is actively looking to improve their SDKs and bring in new features (like VR related optimizations) when it makes sense,” Ville said to GamingBolt.

As for developing a PS VR game compared to a PS4 title, Kivistö said that the studio was still able to deliver graphically intensive experiences. “Shortly put, yes. Sony’s temporal reprojection helps a lot in this, upscaling the framerate to 120Hz.

“Also the scalable nature of P.O.L.L.E.N’s visuals help us to find the visual levels that run constant 60Hz. And as on PC, on PS4 we are also able to ramp up the visuals when the game is played without a VR headset.”

No amount of optimisations can get such weak hardware running above 720P in VR 🙂

    • xboxmaster

like the 65% of pc users that play at 720p and under as revealed by steam hardware survey?

    • Hailey

Hehe yeah and like how many PC gamers play at ABOVE 1080p? Like 1%…lol 🙂

    • DarthDiggler

To be fair those stats don’t tell you how many or how few people are playing with multiple displays. Most were playing at 1080p.

    • Truth™

Can’t even read stats right. Console gaming is a mental disease

    • extermin8or2

Well it has its own external processing unitsi actually it probably can reach 1080p 60fps on alot of games…

    • DarthDiggler

Shhh! The last thing @The_PC_Truth_Insider:disqus is interested in is anything that resembles the truth! 🙂

    • Truth™

Sonycucks are so cute when they go MisterPMedia and claim the breakout box will magically make their games 1080P 60FPS 🙂

    • Truth™

      “But the dGPU!”

Nope. No graphical enhancements in that box. Get lost MisterPlaystationMedia 🙂

    • DarthDiggler

LOL it’s already being done. By people who aren’t basement dwelling virgins like yourself.

    • Truth™

Nope. PSVR games aren’t running 1080P. Keep deluding yourself though. Makes the tears sweeter 🙂

    • DarthDiggler

Not all PSVR games are, just like not all PS4 games are. Some are, some are not.

LOL no tears here, little virgin boi!!! One of these days your balls will drop!!! There is still hope for you! That is if your hands haven’t grown a full beard.

    • Truth™

All are sub 1080P fam. Far bellow acceptable resolution along with the Sub-DK2 quality viewports.

Poor kids going to waste $500 on inferior VR 🙂

    • Martin Gullaksen

I think PlayStation (and everybody else doing VR with their console) will make the console deliver a 60fps experience in some resolution( probably sub 1080), the headset will increase the frame rate to 120fps (using the headsets hardware). Kind of like temporal antialiasing. There will be no native 120 fps games on console, or at least not many games.

      Edit: I agree with you.

  • Gamez Rule

Someone from PS VR’s direct development has stated that the kit’s screen
output had improved, which also inproves the display of black colours
etc. So it might just be a better output than some people give it credit for.

    • Truth™

      Better color on 720P?

  • hvd hvd

they better if they want to keep up with dx12..lol

    • Martin Gullaksen

Didn’t know dx12 had a VR strategy, do you have a link?

    • hvd hvd

this article wasnt just about vr.

    • DarthDiggler

I believe Occulus is MS’s VR partner.

    • Martin Gullaksen

Thanks, they also have their own extended reality headset. Just don’t see the link with dx12.

    • DarthDiggler

Hope in one hand and crap in the other, let us all know which one fills up first!

    • hvd hvd

you sound like you speak of experience..lol and stop usind tweets and quotes form a year aog.ill link some stuff to cause it fun

      big boost to xb1

      15%esram boost to power.

      50% gou boost

linking stuff is fun and i can dig up a lot more:)

    • DarthDiggler

The only link that is germane is the 3rd link. We will find out when DX12 is released which statement of Phil’s is true.

We already know as a matter of fact DX12 will not have as great as a performance boost on XB1 as it does PC. The reason why is there is far less to optimize on XB1.

How much money do you want to put on this?

You keep suggesting DX12 will double the performance of XB1 which means after DX12 is released all multiplatform games will look better on XB1 when compared to PS4.

So please express your confidence in a dollar amount that you would feel comfortable wagering. Or perhaps your allowance doesn’t allow for friendly wagers?

over some one like you anyday. since you dont have any common sense..lol

  • Mr Xrat

A bad week for Xbox gimps just gets worse and worse.

    • Truth™

If it’s a bad week for xcucks. It’s a nightmare for Sonycucks since they have been losing exclusives and the PSVR has been shown to be absolute garbage.

COD Maps is the only reason their console sells. No wonder they are crying 🙂
