Games with post-apocalyptic settings are seemingly a dime a dozen these days, but VG Entertainment’s Forest Reigns sets itself apart with its forest. Alive and dynamic, it reacts to your actions and can either be a hindrance or a valuable tool. In a new deep dive video, the developer outlines various ways to leverage the forest.
Working alongside the Citizens to rescue their scout leader from a bandit-like faction, the MQA. You can opt for the direct approach, accompanied by squad members. By shooting the forest’s roots, you can create cover. Shooting exploding blisters can force enemies out from cover, though you must be careful of blade grass. Another cool feature is a bush that reflects bullets, allowing you to slay enemies without exiting cover.
Alternatively, one can opt for the stealthy approach. Venturing out at night with a suppressed weapon and no backup makes entering the MQA’s base challenging. Fortunately, by harvesting from a plant and using it as a springboard, you can surmount the wall and silently eliminate enemies. Maybe open the gate so the wild boars roaming outside can cause chaos.
Or you could explore the environment and discover things like a gas mask to enter the underground tunnels with toxic pollen. Survive, and you can breach the MQA from its basement.
