PS4 2.51 Firmware Update Is Now Available

A quiet launch for the 2.51 firmware update.

The latest update for Sony’s PlayStation 4 Firmware is now available after being rather quietly released. At the time of writing, the official page for PS4 Firmware updates hasn’t even been updated to include detailed information for what you can expect to find.

The 2.51 update isn’t a very big update, measuring only 200mb. All that we know about the 2.51 update at this time is that it’s expected to bring overall system stability. This alleged boost in stability comes from improving the overall stability of software while using some of the PS4’s features that haven’t yet been detailed.

PS4 updates don’t always roll out in an entirely smooth manner. There are often problems that arise post-update that aren’t rectified until another smaller update comes along to pick up the pieces. Update 2.50 had its fair share of problems so as per usual, you’re always best waiting a few days before updating, if possible.
