Unlike Microsoft, Sony is more secretive regarding its technology updates for the PlayStation 4. There have been times where they have released general information via events such as Game Developers Conference or maybe through developer panels such as the one Naughty Dog conducted during the PlayStation Experience, but much of their important details on the PS4’s API, tools development and optimization are fairly unknown.

This may not be a bad thing as Sony might have decided to take a ‘less talk, more action’ approach, but you can be rest assured that PlayStation and their famed ICE team have been pushing the platform to its absolute limits. In an interview with GamingBolt, Alex Golebiowski of PixelNAUTS, the developers of Lost Orbit echoed the same thing.

“PS4 has been great to work with and like all previous consoles it will only get better with time,” Alex said to GamingBolt. “Sony will keep updating and optimizing their tools and devs will get better at pushing the hardware to new limits. Our experience so far has been pretty smooth and painless.”

We can already see games like The Order: 1886 diminishing the gap between real time gameplay and CG visuals. This is simply phenomenal given that we are only just over a year into the life cycle of the PlayStation 4. It will be an interesting couple of years ahead for the PlayStation 4 as developers will try and squeeze every bit out of the hardware. Let us hope that along with graphics we will see innovations in gameplay department as well.

Speak for yourself , and the one guy that gave you a thumbs up .

He’s clearly another blind $ 0 N ¥ Pau per. Things are only going to get worse for the PoS4. Things like Uncharted 4 not being able to run at 60fps is already very telling. The console is a weak PoS.

Another paid review …lol this is getting sickening , the off the shelf parts console can’t be optimized like they’re paid to say …. it’s like a dell , “what comes out of the box ,is all you’re getting” PERIOD !

  • TheWayItsMeantToBePlayed

Well, that 30FPS deal with Uncharted isn’t exactly a promising start, is it.

It’s going to get cringy when actual DGPUs start arriving on the PC market during this year with HBM memory becoming standard (Not that russian idiot’s conspiracy theories). Wonder if we will see the first ever three year console cycle.

  • freddy_uk

ofc they will if you compare first ps3/xbox game to a game that came out in last 2 year massive difference .

My first ps3 games was resistance and ps3 heavenly sword

In short, hackers STOLE the X1 SDK documents and revealed it. And of course MS will periodically reveal more about DX12, updating devs and the games industry on progress. Some people r turning this the other way around…..

  • Will

Of course the PS4 will be further optimized. It’s pretty early in its life cycle. I wonder why this article was written, though. EVERY console “will only get better with time” in its cycle. Why single out the PS4?
