Rise of the Tomb Raider offers something completely different, says Brian Horton.

Rise of the Tomb Raider (9)

Two of the biggest games of 2015 will be launching on the same day. Fallout 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider will be be hitting retail shelves on November 10th, 2015. Fallout 4 is obviously the most anticipated title out of the two given that fans have been waiting for several years to get their hands on it, but Game Director Brian Horton is confident that the quality of Rise of the Tomb Raider will speak for itself.

“We’re big fans of Fallout, it’s such a great game. But we believe we offer something completely different from a gaming experience point of view. We feel good about the date and the quality of the game will speak for itself,” Horton said to GamingBolt.

Fallout 4 will be launching on all major platforms so sales wise it will most likely perform better than Rise of the Tomb Raider given that it is an Xbox exclusive for the time being. We just have to wait and see how these two games perform critically.

Horton also stated that Rise of the Tomb Raider will appeal to all type of fans.

“If you’re a fan of Tomb Raider in all incarnations whether it’s the core classics, the legendary first era of Crystal Dynamics or the reboot, know that we’re going to have something a little bit for everyone in here. And we want the player to feel like they can play the game the way they want. So if you’re a fan of more stealth-based gameplay you can play it that way, if you like more action it’s there also.”

Shoddy journalism. Trying to make it sound like the rev. Is challenging FO4. Pathetic.

    • Sam

Exactly. Stupid title just to get clicks and views.

    • michael

Every since Tomb Raider was announced as a xbox timed exclusive, these journalists ,which I found out are also members of the N4g community, have been trying to downplay it. They are bought and paid to write negative articles about Microsoft xbox one. Anyone can see that the journalist purposely titled the article to try and make it seem like the dev was saying TR would beat Fallout.

    • Drakulus

I agree. If anything the devs are confident in their game and that’s a good thing. Tomb Raider has a very hardcore fanbase so I’m sure the game will sale well. Not FO4 good, but still good though.

    • Orion Wolf

The real issue is that TR wasn’t nearly as popular or talked about (with this I mean the actual game and not the exclusivity deal) until it was announced that it was coming to the pc early 2016 and the ps4 at the end of 2016. It does show some favoritism, even though people claim there is none.

  • XanderZane41

Both games are going to be great, which is why I’ll be buying both on that day.

Exclusive (timed) to the lowest selling current console AND releasing on the day of one of the most anticipated titles of the last couple of years…. ummmm

    • ak33715

“Exclusive (timed) to the lowest selling current console”

That would be the Wii U. Also, this game is coming to 360 as well.

    • Riggerto

      Has Xboxone surpassed WiiU sales?
      Must be quite close.

    • ak33715

I think Wii U just recently said it sold 10 million. Microsoft announced prior to November that it had shipped 10 million. So I would assume so.

    • Xbox one sold 13 million and Wii U just hit 10 million.

    • Shawn

Wii U are 10million sold through consumers. Microsoft will not give numbers on the Xbox One. I wonder why ? they made sure they told us how much were sold and not shipped with the 360.

    • Official numbers already released xbox one sold 13 million Ps4 sold 25 million and wii u just sold 10 million google it.

    • Shawn

I did but didn’t see Microsoft give any official statement of 13million. XBox One consoles sold through the consumers.

    • 54nakaD

How do you think SE and CD are liking that deal now? Lol

    • Luca Bianconi

I fear they are burning their hands for that sign…

  • XbotMK1

The Xbox One is a failure that deserves it’s fate with all of Microsoft’s lies and anticonsumer monopolistic practices. And with the death of the Xbox One, comes the death of the most cancerous, hypocritical, and toxic fanbase this world has ever seen.

Microsoft fanboys get angry at the PS4’s success and the Xbox One’s failure, but in the same breath they praise Microsoft when Microsoft mimics the PS4.

Microsoft tried to force Kinect with every Xbox One and Xbox fanboys defended it. Microsoft unbundled Kinect so they could drop the price to match the PS4 and Xbox fanboys still defended it.

Microsoft tried to sell a weaker console at a higher price and Xbox fanboys defended it. Then they wonder why games run worse on Xbox One and they blame it on poor optimization.

They criticize the PS4’s AAA exclusive library when the Xbox One hasn’t had a AAA exclusive in over 10 months. Xbox One barely even has any first party exclusives.

Xbox fanboys bash PSN while ignoring Xbox Lives countless outages and begging Microsoft to copy PSN features.

The list goes on. Xbox One is a failure and Microsoft deserves to go out of business for their greed and abuse towards consumers.

You officially have no life! You’re on every gaming website 24/7 smug. GTFO you smelly peasant

    • Guest

Sony shill have no lives. They’re society’s rejects. Their consistent fake upvotes basically prove that nobody truly agrees with them.

    • Shawn

Which console do you own ?.

    • Omnipotent
    • plop6759

The problem lies with the fact that he officially has NO GAMES!!!!!

    • Shawn

Let me guess that would be the PS4 right ?.

    • plop6759

    • Shawn

PS4 have games, but of course it don’t to Xbox One faithfuls, lol. I have more games on my PS4 than my Xbox One. It’s has been proven that the PS4 library is bigger and more diversed than the Xbox One’s library. I play both my systems equally, so stall the Pony crap.

    • plop6759

I have 120 games on my Xbox One not counting 30 in the Rare Replay Collection and 5 in the Halo Masterchief Collection. There are no games exclusively on PS4 that I’m remotely jealous of. I don’t care how many games are on the PS4 because quality beats quantity. I don’t go around making claims and attacking the system I didn’t care to purchase. People should buy what they want and be happy with their purchase rather than spew their remorseful bile onto every article that may feature a platform other than their own the way XbotMk1 does.

    • There he goes again him and his made up accounts.

    • YuriFan

“most cancerous, hypocritical, and toxic fanbase this world has ever seen”
Coming from the guy that’s made it his full time job to trash anyway Microsoft related.

    • Dirkster_Dude

So are you fanboy or a troll? Your statements indicate your bias and incorrect reading of the XB1 situation. If has been such a failure then Microsoft wouldn’t still be making it.

    • Shawn

I own both and does speak a lot of truth in his comment.

  • Barry Harden

Laughing at Bethesda for making a deal with XBone with exclusive content. Micro$oft in turn cuts a deal with Rise of the Tomb Raider to release on the same time frame as Fallout 4. This will eat into Bethesda profit margins!

You reap what you sow idiots!

  • YuriFan

I’ll be getting both because I’m not stupid enough to miss out on both.

I’ll be playing TR first anyway because it’s shorter, and to be honest F4 looks kind of shallow.

  • 2econd gpu unlocking

XbotMk1 has had a very salty meltdown.

And your comment on the Kinect, sales show we wanted it.
In fact, it was 1:1 ratio for the first 14months, Something the Sony eye can never match in attachment rates figures.

    • michael

He doesn’t like his console so he hates everyone else’s.

    • Kinect is amazing. I’ll never buy another console without one. It’s too useful, and there are some nice games that provide variety to my library.

    • 2econd gpu unlocking

That’s the reason we asked for it.
The Xbox 360 version was also a sales hit.

    • There have been some superb games for it too, particularly Child of Eden on Xbox 360 and Fantasia: Music Evolved, Dark Dreams Don’t Die, Fruit Ninja Kinect 2, Dance Central Spotlight, and Xbox Fitness on Xbox One.

    • Orion Wolf

The only thing I wish is for MS to take their time with the Kinect 3.0 (hopefully there is one), the K2 is vastly superior to the original one and the tech inside (TOF) it is, for what it offers, relatively cheap (in comparison with similar products), but I feel that they released it too soon to compete with Sony.

With MS working on their Deep Neural Network (AI) making Cortana ever smarter it would really be a must own device.

  • ImOnaDrugCalledSheen

“Ready To Take On Fallout 4” LOL, Hilarious, thanks for that I needed the laugh.

  • Jecht_Sin

They both will sell well. With Fallout 4 selling more being more popular. But there are plenty of people that don’t like the idea of spending 400 hours in a game and/or prefer action/adventure titles.

    • Mark

      True Jecht

I’ll have to say that tombraider will get wiped clean when it comes to comparative sales along side fallout 4… I could be mistaken, but are these two games not completely different in gameplay mechanics and overall approach all together?

    • Mark

Yeah they’re different enough to attract the fans they both need for a proper sequel imo. Ur right, Fallout 4’s gonna go nuts lol. But if Tomb Raider sells 3-7M between both X1 and 360 that’s sucess imo.

True… And for both companies I hope you are right as well.

  • Hi, download and play the best free-to-play PC games from http://www.pcgamesarchive.com

  • I don’t really see much overlap between the potential customers of these two games. They’re different genres. I have no interest in Fallout but can’t wait for Rise of the Tomb Raider.

  • Christopher Sharpe

I’ll buy both. Already got my pipboy edition preordered, but rise of the tomb raider will be a preowned purchase for the same reason that the new Street fighter will be. Bullshit timed exclusivity shouldn’t be condoned.
