Sony, what are you doing…

Rocket League

Sony is not playing nice when it comes to cross platform multiplayer. We have been hearing from developers about them not allowing full cross platform multiplayer online for a year now, and things came to a head on Sunday, when Mojang announced that Minecraft will allow for full cross platform play across every single platform that the game is on- except for PlayStation. Even Xbox and Switch players will be able to play with each other, but PS4 is left out, because Sony won’t agree to it.

And now, another game has joined the list. Rocket League will be coming to the Nintendo Switch this Holiday season, as was announced, and it will have cross platform multiplayer- with PC and with Xbox One, but not with PS4.

This is not reflecting well on Sony at all- if even a company as backwards about online as Nintendo is willing to play nice with cross platform multiplayer, then Sony has no excuse, and it needs to step up.

Rocket League is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, with a Nintendo Switch version coming later this year.

It would be seriously great if we could all play COD, and all these competitive games online together cross-network so I could own yall

Guys it’s happening…….Microsoft’s initiative is coming together, cross-play between different networks. Xbox, PC, Nintendo switch all playing together, Sony just refuses to join

I’m not going to comment on Sony’s decision to not join cross-playing again, but I’m happy that Nintendo is on board.
    Yay for Nintendo!

Sony’s decision is anti-consumer. Jim Ryan even admitted in an interview that one of the main reasons it’s because shareholders won’t like. They don’t care about the fans, they care about making money… their attitude is, do want to play with friends? only if you buy a PS4.

Sony is milking the PS4 user base to the last cent… no free backcompat (only paid PS Now for PS3 titles, re-selling the games people bought in the previous generations as remasters, or re-selling emulated PS2 classics again but with trophies), raised PS+ price 10 bucks but still most monthly free games are indies and PS network is still bad compared to Xbox. No crossbuy with PC (wanna play with PC friends? Buy the game twice).

The PS4 fans should get ready when they release the PS5 someday to re-buy all their PS2, PS3 and PS4 games, and give Sony a ton of money… The slogan “For the players” is turning more and more into a complete lie… realistically should be “For your money”.

I was really happy with Sony at the start of this generation but now I’m abandoning the PS4 ecosystem, they may have more exclusives and better ones, but the anti-consumer tactics from Sony are too disgusting to ignore.

cross platform play has only benefits as far as i can see, thinking of Battlefield 4 community active players getting doubled, COD black ops 2, etc this is just sony arrogance at work. no excuses.
