Uncharted 4 A Thief's End

Sony had a rather disappointing show at last week’s Gamescom specially if you are desperate to play AAA and high production titles on the PlayStation 4. The lack of any new information for Uncharted 4 and Shadow of the Beast made things more frustrating for PlayStation 4 owners.

Head of PlayStation Europe, Jim Ryan addressed these issues in a recent interview. When asked about the silence regarding the lack of info regarding Shadow of the Beast, Jim Ryan stated that it’s not cancelled and ‘it’s still coming.’ He also explained the reason behind the lack of Uncharted 4 at last week’s event. According to him it takes time to show something new to the audience. “Creating something for a show takes a lot of resource, and we put a lot of resource into E3,” he said in an interview with Metro.

He also commented on the recent timed exclusive deal for The Rise of The Tomb Raider for Xbox One and stated that they might consider a similar deal for other multiplatform games if the need arises. He also stated that there are many unannounced games that are being worked on for the PlayStation 4.

“I never rule anything in or out, but we’ve got all our studios, in all parts of the world, working on stuff for PS4 – some of it announced, some of it yet to be announced – and we’re pretty happy with what they bring,” he said.

Not sure who was disappointed by Sony’s Gamescom presser. Every reputable outlet pretty much said that Sony dominated the conference. From new IPs, unannounced AAA PS4 exclusives, to secret reveals. Sony was the best and it wasn’t even close. Microsoft only showed games everyone has seen before. Nothing new AAA wise. Nothing at all.

At Gamescom Sony showed 10 AAA games, announced AAA games, launched a playable teaser that gamers loved, and showed indie games close to AAA quality (The Tomorrow Children, Alienation, WiLD, Rime, Ethan Carter, HellBlade). Seems good to me.

They both had good shows though.

I know Ninja Theory is giving us the, “It’s an indie approach” speech, but this is the dev who brought us Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey of the West and DmC: Devil May Cry. Hardly a true indie in my opinion.

gamingbolt said it was due to of lack of AAAS. which is funny coz majority of new IPs shown from MS are indies.

people were expecting more on uncharted 4, which is 12+ months out, at a conference just 2 months after its reveal at E3? really?

Bad showing? Sony dominated according to everyone else and I agree. What show did you watch? I wasn’t expecting anything from UC4 or Naughty Dog when it was just announced a couple months back. Impatient gamers.

I’m just happy Shadow of the Beast isn’t cancelled. It was my favourite game back in the Amiga games when I was 12 years old, and I REALLY want to see it on the PS4.
