Star Wars: Battlefront II is almost upon us, and as its launch draws closer, we’ve started wondering important things about it. One of the questions we’ve had for a while is- how good will it look? And apparently, it will look very, very good. Digital Foundry recently got to play a hands-on section of the game running on a PS4 Pro at Gamescom, and we have some juicy tidbits of information for you.

The footage (you can see it through the link provided above) was pre-alpha, and the game was running on a PS4 Pro, and fans will be glad to know that it will run at a steady and gorgeous 60 frames per second. This is definitely good news, since the frame rate will be needed to keep up with the frantic and chaotic action on-screen, of which there seems to be plenty. Additionally, it doesn’t look like the game will be trying to run in 4K resolution, dynamic or not, as the footage in question was rendered at a resolution of 1080p. However, do note that this is a pre-alpha build and things can always improve in the final version.

The footage itself looked fantastic. The space battles look frantic and magnificent, and there’s everything from Star Destroyers to the Millennium Falcon to gawk at. Take a look at it for yourself. Star Wars Battlefront 2 launches in November for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned for more updates.

No point whatsoever in buying a Pro over the normal PS4.

      That’s def how I feel

It depends on ur 4k tv set, read my post above. Star wars is in Alpha it’ll either get bumped to 1440p or stay where it’s at. Tekken 7 is 1080p on PS4 Pro and 864p on PS4.

Not knocking ur reasons for upgrading, but for me the vanilla PS4 offers most bang for its bucks

    • Eddie Battikha

Ya ur right as PS4 Pro isn’t a huge upgrade overall as its a mid gen stop gap system mostly meant for PSVR i believe, PS5 will be worth it but that’s not for a while and PlayStation has their First Party Exclusives on Lockdown the next 2 years.

Yezzir….GOW 4 is gonna be sick!

    • Eddie Battikha

It was worth it for me as i got lucky last October and got a 55 inch LGB6 for $1699 total i traded in my launch PS4 in for PS4 Pro the next month and to play NBA 2k17 and Fifa17 at 4k Native was Awesome, i was happy to get it as the sensors got weak on my launch PS4 and the Wifi card and 500gb hd were weak also. It depends on the 4k TV set u got as PlayStations First Party Exclusives look great on it and will so on the next 2 years till PS5 launches Fall 2019.

why is it only 1080p for the pro but higher for the X1? are they not pretty similar power wise? dont bother with any of that console bias as im a pc gamer, was just curious why its such a low rez

    • Mark

You referring to Xbox One, or Xbox X?

    • skilledkiller08

oh yeah my bad its the xbox one x, the specs on that are pretty good for console and has a nice cooling system, hopefully if it does well its good to see console getting good graphics

    • Mark

      Well Pro = 4Tflops, 6GB Ram, 215Gb/s
      1X = 6Tflops, 9GB Ram, 320Gb/s

So 1X has big advantage. However, even on the 1X, it won’t be 4k, prolly 1440p-1800p….that just means Star Wars 2 is ultra demanding!

    • Eddie Battikha

The demo was in Alpha that’s why.

  • Ocelot forgot his meds

PROtato wonder twin powers activate ! Kinda sucks how Sony sold its fans on a “4k” console that isn’t capable of downloading and running 4k textures and assets.

I’ll get it on the X…thanks
