The resolution wars continue…

The Surge_02

The resolution wars this generation are a bit ridiculous- people are more obsessed about the lines and dots their consoles can display on the screen, rather than about the games themselves. And yet, I suppose, for a lot of fanboys, news such as this continues to serve as fodder.

Deck13, best known for Lords of the Fallen, a rather competently made Dark Souls clone from a few years ago, are now going to be translating that same formula to a dystopian science fiction setting with their upcoming game The Surge– and speaking to WCCFTech about the upcoming game, Deck13’s Game Programmer Torsten Fock-Herde confirmed that the Xbox One version of the game will be running at 900p, while the PS4 version is going to be at a full 1080p. Deck13 also confirmed that though they did evaluate the possibility, The Surge will not be supporting DirectX 12- for now, they are sticking to DirectX 11.

Microsoft really can’t get the Xbox One Scorpio out fast enough- after all, that console, which is currently projected to be the most powerful console ever made at the time of its release, will help Microsoft bridge this kind of gap with third party games. The Surge is due out in 2017 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

The Xbox Scorpio will put an end to the resolution war between Xbox and PlayStation

    • Gary

Why would it put an end? It’ll just keep going.

    • Mr Xrat

Very true, Kirk. Dynamic resolution with the occasional flicker at 2160p when looking at a wall, 30fps, low texture quality vs 1440p, 30fps, high texture quality and better graphical effects. Oh yeah, and exclusives.

    • Nintengods

lol this idiot thinks PS4 neo is getting high texture quality

Staying just as low as scorpibone, Playstation Ratgamer. Not even getting 1440P 🙂

Nintendo NX will have higher quality and 60FPS. Can’t wait for Nintendo to curbstomp $ony just like 2006 again 🙂

Oh and P$4 lost all its exclusives to PC so Nintendo platforms will be the only platforms with exclusives. kek

    • TheCellGames

They said a .5 tflop difference between PS4 and XB1 was 50% more power then how much is 2Tflops between Scorpio and Neo. XD

That’s is 100% fact. Children need to feel superior some how so this is their way of feeling all high and mighty.

  • Nintengods

Both running at 24FPS and lower

    Pathetic.

  • Nettrick Nowan

I own both consoles and I do use things like resolution to determine which version I will buy.

  • Mr Xrat

    HDR will fix it.

    • Nintengods

Not sure how that will solve the 20FPS drops on P$4.

No one cares about xboner except you

    • Foster Hampton

Then why are you responding to him?

    • Nintengods

To mock him for his P$4 and being a sonygimp currently just cancerous as the xgimps

He wants to be the playstation version of crapgamer which is the saddest thing in he world. Even sadder than being crapgamer. kek.

    • Foster Hampton

And who are you wanting to be nintengods

    • Nintengods

      Nintengods

Who do you want to be? The guy who licks up sh*t after playstation crapgamer?

    • TheCellGames

      Ah it’s Mr.Monkeypoop

And then you chose to write a story that focussed on the resolution of a game rather than the game itself…

    Um…

    • Paul

That’s mostly because there is a bigger gap from PS4 to Xbox One then there was with the PS3 and Xbox 360, which highlights that graphics does matter even to console gamers.

But I agree with you, I’m a PC gamer but nowadays big publishers put way too much focus on visuals and not enough on making a good game.

  • David Souza

So in one artical you condemn this resolution war as you describe it, then in that very same artical report on it. Perpetuaring something you clearly dislike. This artical seems hypocritical or maybe thats just you. I don’t know.

  • David Souza

If you’re going to feed a mentality for profit atleast have the decency not to complain about it. You dont seem to mind the money these views generate do you?
