Ubisoft Warns Nintendo That Mario Kart 8 DLC “Breaks The Magic”

Oh man...you really goofed on this one.

Nintendo’s hugely popular Mario Kart series of arcade kart racers made the jump to the HD market place this year in Mario Kart 8, which recently received some rather world breaking but nonetheless excellent DLC.

The DLC comes in the form of three Mercedes Benz vehicles. The W 25 Silver Arrow Kart, the GLA kart and the 300 SL Roadster. This free DLC has been largely received as a positive thing and may well pave the way for future endorsements in the game.

Ubisoft however, feels differently, or at least an individual with access to the Ubisoft twitter account does. Earlier today, the official Ubisoft twitter feed tweeted directly to @MercedesBenz and @NintendoAmerica alongside the hashtags, #MARIOKART8 and #NINTENDO, saying;

“Not sure I like the @MercedesBenz  cars in #MARIOKART8, Kinda breaks the magic. Be careful #NINTENDO @NintendoAmerica”

Naturally, damage control ensued with Ubisoft rushing to erase the statement and dole out an apology. “Sorry about that. The opinion expressed does not in any way represent those of Ubisoft. It’s been deleted.”

Someone, somewhere has just got themselves in a spot of trouble with that silly mistake. This is the internet my friend, nothing goes away.
