Will Final Fantasy 15 Run At 1080p And 60fps On The PS4 And Xbox One?

Parity across both systems with full graphical effects on. Can Square Enix make it happen?

44. Final Fantasy 15

Final Fantasy XV is one of the most anticipated next gen titles which is currently in development for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at Square Enix. It was confirmed not too long ago that the game is deep into development and is not expected to be released until 2015.

Given the long development cycle that the game has seen, it obviously begs the question: Will Final Fantasy 15 run at 1080p and 60fps on the PS4 and Xbox One? Most next gen games have failed to achieve that golden standard of resolution and frame rate. However as time will pass and developers get themselves more acquainted with the new consoles, it might be very much possible that we will start seeing more games consistently running at that standard.

Both Microsoft and Sony are hard at work, improving their respective Software Development Kits, tools and drivers. And if last gen was anything to go by, Final Fantasy 15 might be the very first AAA multiplatform that will achieve parity without compromising on graphical effects on both the new systems.

Do you think Square Enix will be able to achieve this technical feat? What are your thoughts in this matter? Let us know in the comments section below.

    wow, really?

Nope cus the hardware isnt powerful enough to do both. with the PS4 it should always be doing 1080p but itll have to decide between level of detail and framerate especially in more open world games. the more detail you put in the lower the framerate is going to get. Say The Order 1886 for example thats 30 fps cus its got such high detail, maybe in the future with better SDK’s and stuff you may be able to achieve the same LOD with 60fps but then you have the decision the power is there, should i increase the level of detail and physics and everything and drop back down to 30 or keep detail about the same and stay around 60. Always a compromise. if it wants to keep pushing the graphics the framerate will suffer but they have to keep pushing other wise people will start complaining about but this game in year 5 looks the same as the game in year 1-2 what gives etc

Seeing as it is talking about FF15 if they achieve gfx on x1 at 1080p 30fps then PS4 will do 60fps but with lod held back if they want exactly the same gfx

Probably not on either. I’d guess 1080p 30 on PS4, and less on Xbox.

    • Psionicinversion

i always though final fantasy was only a playstation game? kinda stupid to have it run like rubbish on its primary hardware or what they will do is make it run ok there then make the X1 rubbish so its looks bad

    • JB69

1080p 30 fps is hardly rubbish. Id rather they focus on the content and gameplay more. 1080p is the main reason why there are no towns in FFXIII

1080p 60 is too tall an order for a game that’s been in development so long. Squeenix devs aren’t know for their tech prowess.

They’ll probably half a** the Xbox port and run it at 720p while PS4 runs at 1080p.

    • Michael Norris

1080p 30fps is fine since the game looks amazing. Both versions should be good, but i expect the Ps4 version to be the better looking/running of the two.

The Final Fantasy series is made by Square-Enix, a third-party developer. Before the playstation they released the majority of their RPGs on super nintendo, then just with sony for a while, then on multiple consoles.

As far as how they’ll perform, one should keep in mind both the PS4 and XBone are more or less evenly matched spec wise (moreso than 360 vs PS3), and as time goes on developers will learn to take better advantage of those specs. There’s a good chance FFXV will perform about the same on either console.

nomura said they’re using direct x so they’ll make the game in the highest quality and transport that to what ever systerm that can handle it, so they wont have to compromise any quality when they make it for the ps4. by the way he said it too it’s possible it will be available on pc.

  • marcus hughes

The game is going to put out frame rates like no other game. just look at all the detail in the freaking trailer dude. its the closet thing that we get for advent chidlren in game fromat

  • RealGeee

Hopefully coming to PC as well.

    • Sebastian Stroud

Lol yeah right. Don’t hold your breath.

  • coolguyhero

on ps4 it will because if you see the history of ff games on sony platform square enix brought high quality games.

  • Jimmy James

Maybe they can do almost-1080p like battlefield 4 did for ps4 and keep the 60 fps. I think bf4 pulled it off nicely because the game looks great on a nice big 1080p television especially with the 60fps. I think frames add more to the gameplay than a higher resolution, because i mean when I’m PC gaming and a game doesn’t run like i want the resolution is the first to go. Frames first!

  • Sebastian Stroud

This game shouldn’t even release on the Xbox One. Why can’t they just stick to one platform? What happened to exclusive dedication? Makes me ill.

  • EX+

    Most likely not.
But you can expect great graphics at native 1080p 30fps on PS4.
Like the article states, new SDKs are coming out sooner rather than later and SE is pretty good with tech. I just need that 1080p.
They were able to run FF14 ARR pretty well on the PS4 (1080p as well) and it’s an online game. A single player game like FF15 will run awesomely at 1080p 30fps on PS4.
