Phil-Spencer

As far as gaming on Xbox One and Windows 10 is concerned, Microsoft seems to have shifted itself in a new direction. Almost every major Xbox One exclusive is now coming to Windows 10 platform which may or may not be a bad thing depending on your perspective. And it seems this will continue to happen in the future if Xbox boss Phil Spencer’s comments are anything to go by.

Spencer was asked on Twitter whether there are any plans to bring the Halo franchise to the PC and his response was quite optimistic. “We are always listening to the feedback and listening to what games people want to see from us,” he said. That is an interesting response since he is not denying a Halo game for the PC platform.

In another Tweet he stated that they are planning to continuously improve gaming experience on the Windows 10 store. The Windows store has a number of limitations in the form of forced v-sync, borderless fullscreen and lack of modding support. Spencer stated that he is aware of such issues and the team is working to improve it.

And lastly, for those who are wondering where Cuphead is, Spencer confirmed it’s still alive and is looking forward to it.

Halo Online (the one the Russians are testing) is the next Halo game for PC.

    • Mark

Lol. I dont think they even want that

  • onstrike112

Gotta love the non-committal responses and maybes and perhapses he’s giving us, like they always have with the false hope, to move Windows 10 licenses like they did with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8…….. What does this say? Microsoft doesn’t care about gaming on Windows, but rather, they care about moving licenses.

    • d0x360

They will never say yes halo is coming to windows because halo sells consoles. Its that simple.

    • onstrike112

They’ll also do the same song and dance that they did for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1.

no need for a xbox console anymore they just killed their console sales.im a guy that has a pc/xbox one.there is no need for that anymore.for those who have pc’s dont need the console anymore which means hardware sales loss..if pretty common for a pc gamer to have a ps4 or a xbox one.from that stand point if you have a pc there is no reason to buy a xbox one any more.

im fully going pc now.maybe pc/nintendo nx

    • A verdade ofende

I have two PCs but none of them is powerful enough to run an Xbox One’s game, so i still want my XOne.

    • Hvd

sell xbox one upgrade gpu and your good.

    • junzo muto

He also needs a power supply, ram, a motherboard that can support it. I have a Dell XPS stock and I can’t slap a GTX 970 into it. That’s a huge myth in PC gaming.

    • leanton31

There is a myth in console gaming as well. PC games are really cheaper and often superior. IF you are into gaming you can find last years’ great games for 10 or 5 bucks on Steam. Don’t get me started about mods.

    • Hvd

you cant really beat steam sales but consoles get great deals to on xbox live.so dont think they have to pay full price all the time for every games.there are deals on both platforms.

    • junzo muto

It isn’t cheaper, not even close. I bought an Xbox One with Ryse/SunsetOverdrive/Forza 5 for 250$ . I can rent console games, I can’t rent PC games. I can trade on console games, I can’t trade in PC games. That beats any Steam sale or G2A codes

    • cosmicrays

During the winter sale on steam I bought five AAA games for only $60 bucks, man. The games I bought were Far cry 4, Shadow Of Mordor, Dying Light, Sleeping Dog (remaster), and Tomb Raider (reboot). Granted they are two years old, but you get a lot of bang for you buck on PC. Also steam has a setting that can be set up with multiple accounts called family sharing. But this can be done with up to five or so accounts, and it lets you play your friends or families games as if you owned them yourself. So it is basically renting games from other accounts, but there is no paying too rent. Of course they do have limintations for this, but it’s worth it because of the money saved.

    • junzo muto

That’s a damn good sale, but those are also older games each one a year old at least. I can rent both new games and old games for dollars a month or I can buy a new game on Amazon for 48$ as a Prime member and then trade it in the same month for 35$ making the new game cost only 13$.

You can buy new games on Greenmangaming for PC for 48$ too but not being able to trade them in is a huge detriment for someone who doesn’t want to spend 48$ on a new game without anyway to recoup some of the cost if they dislike the game.

    • cosmicrays

That’s the only downside to steam. If you want a game for a good price you have to wait a min of six months before you can find it on sale for 20-25% off. Also you can’t sell your games if you don’t like them, but I only buy games I know I’m going to like (expensive games). I read reviews, watch game-play, and get feed back form friends and my brothers. Also me and my brother have family accounts link on steam so any game he has, I can play it for free. The only downside is, I can only play it when he is not on, but he normally works nights, while I work days. So it actually works out perfect for us. I can also wait for a game is I know I will not be able to pull at least 60 hours on it, then I’ll just wait till the prices come down enough to were I can play as many hours = amount of money I’ve bought it for. Also any game that is around three-four years old will only be five bucks at most during sales, so If I don’t like the game I bought it’s not a big deal. If it absolutely terrible I’ll refund it through steam. Steam is like a game distribution client that a lot of console gamer’s don’t really understand. Basically it’s place to find large amounts of games, talk to others, and make friends just like PS + or Xbox Live. Also a common misconceptions is if the steam client is down your not able to play you game, which is false (I thought this). Steam does an off line mode, but this only works for games with a single player campaign, so online games probably won’t work. But than again Steam has only gone down once or twice in 2015 if my memory serves me right, But than again Steam is not for everyone, so pick you poison, But I highly recommend using it at some point. Got a laptop? Use it for indie games that will run it, and give it a shot. But be warned, it is an addiction!

    • Hvd

yep pc gamers call that the by in price.once you buy in a new gpu to beat the ps4/xbox is only around $200.every so often you up grade you can do it cheap.every 2-3 years up grade gpu then every 3-4 years up grade mobo/cpu.

you bought a pre built computer that you cant up grade a 970 is to big to fit in.the only option is to pull everything out of the case and put it in a new case or run it case less for a while.

    • One With Shadows

What do you game on, a commadore 64?!?

    • d0x360

Sorry but no. Not everyone can afford a proper gaming pc. The $400 gaming Pc is a myth unless you want your games looking slightly better than last gen and still running at 30fps.

I have a $3000 gaming PC and I still.bought a ps4 and xb1 and I enjoy all 3. Gamers game and to do that you need all the platforms because of these odd things called exclusives which will never go away.

    • leanton31

Except exclusives the consoles haven’t anything else going for it. And PCs have exclusives as well.

    • Bojaxs

You would be better off selling your Xbox1 and invest the money back into your PC.

Alot of PC gamers purchase consoles as “exclusives only” devices. But if it’s true that all xbox exclusives are coming to PC aswell, than there is literately no reason for a PC gamer to own an xbox1.

    • Jugo94

      Thats good for PC gamers.

    • Booomshki!

I’m a PC gamer and own 4 Xbox Ones. Freeview + Netflix + Amazon Prime + Xbox Film has replaced my normal TV subscriptions and the XB1’s act as my under-the-tv boxes in the main rooms of the house. The PC is awesome for its job but the Xbox fills different needs far beyond gaming. For the average family a PC isnt the right tool for the job.

    • JC

Not everyone revolves their life around gaming. I spent $2500 on my TV, another $2500 on my AR15 build this year, and I got a budget solution gaming/streaming media device that works… I don’t want to game on PC; I did that when I was a teenager, but I’ve since moved out of my parents basement and like to game in the living room of my place now.

Clearly, there is plenty of reason to have an Xbox One. Did I mention backwards compatibility also?

    • Hvd

good for you.i can tell you i wont game on this xbox console any more since i can get the exclusives on pc.i will sell the x1 and get a ps4 or a nintendo nx.if i cant get exclusives on a better platform there is no point to a crappy underpowered console.

also dont do any crpss play with pc gamers you will get owned.controller vs keyboard/mouse will lose every time.you have a console to relax and to use a controller.even when they add mouse/keyboard support to xbox one that will force you to use it in multiplayer.

if you want a console for ease of use and AAA titles thats great its why i had my x1 but if you plan to do anything multiplayer llike halo dont bother.yes gears and halo are coming to pc.with cross play you will get owned.

    • Jugo94

I dont see how they killed their console at all. apparently sharing games is death in your head. Thank god everyone doesnt think like you.

    • Hvd

you are thinking about it is why you dont see it.many pc gamers get a ps4/xbox one along side their pc for the exclusives.like i said before there is no point for a console when 85% of its exclusives are now on pc.more and more exclusives like halo and forza are coming to pc as well.

if you have a decent pc as a pc gamer should you dont need the console at all.have you looked at the xbox one app on windows 10 its the xbox os thats on your console.

like i said if hyou have a pc there is now no need to but a xbox at all which means losing hardware sales.they will hope to make it up in software sales on the windows store but pc gamers wont buy from the windows store only steam and g2s(grey market cd key sie where you can buy a AAA title for $35 at launch.

in a nut shellputting xbox exclusives on a pc means no need for a console.a lot of pc gamers that bought xbox one just got ripped off.
you dont need a xbox one if you have a solid pc.

      hope you understand now.

  • One With Shadows

Oh please, will this Phil guy ever shut it?

    • JC

Explain to me why it’s bad that the head of Xbox is interacting directly with gamers? Explain why it angers you that MS are working on blurring the lines of xbox/pc gaming? You’re completely irrational…

    • One With Shadows

I’m not angered. I was just saying it for his sake. He keeps looking foolish when his silly system keeps coming up short.

    • FreeRyu

Don’t complain about him, complain about the people that keep asking him questions. Is he suppose to just ignore them?

    • One With Shadows

      A “no comment” would suffice.

    • FreeRyu

It’s your problem if you don’t want to hear him lol. He communicates with fans and that’s a bad thing? It would be worse if he did say “no comment”.

    • One With Shadows

Worse than failing?!? Havent you ever heard the words “pleading the 5th”? Lol

    • Truth™

Doesn’t stop sony execs when their trash games flop in sales and fail to run at 1080P 60FPS at high settings when they promised it in 2013. Why would it stop M$?

At least you Console scum and your cancerous DRM machines are getting so close to being eliminated from the industry 🙂

    • One With Shadows

You call yourself truth but you tell lies. Haha. The irony hey?

    • Truth™
    • One With Shadows

Not too hard to find really. If one pays attention.

    • Truth™
    • FreeRyu

      What game is that?

  • MadMen

How can you not support Phil, he took on a botched launched system, and is a former game developer, who respects the competition. #respect.

  • crizz1066

Damage control and spin, that’s all M$ seem to do these days. Suppose its cheaper and easier to pay him, than it is to produce a quality machine to the best of their abilities. Instead of minimum they think they can get away with.

    • FreeRyu

“Suppose its cheaper and easier to pay him, than it is to produce a quality machine to the best of their abilities” Who was head of Xbox during its launch?

    • crizz1066

Er it was Don sommic wernt it??? Why do you ask?

    • FreeRyu

You can only do so much when you are STILL cleaning up after somebodies damn mess.

    • crizz1066

True, but he creates his own mess, with badly dealt with PR etc. I thought he was going to be a breath of fresh air when he took over. Buts slowly just seems to be a M$ mouth piece who doesn’t have that much control.

  • FreeRyu

When you pre ordered Quantum Break did you get a code to redeem on the Windows Store or is it linked to your Microsoft account?

    • efnet

I didn’t receive anything yet so I’m not sure.
