Xbox One Will Get Gifting For Digital Games Very Soon

Microsoft continues to extend its lead on the services front.

The fact that most digital game stores do not allow gifting options is a bit baffling- Steam, of course, has offered this option for a long time, and even Nintendo allowed it back on the Wii (though no subsequent system has had the functionality). But these exceptions apart, if you want to gift a digital copy of a game to a friend, your best bet is to just get them credit, and hope they buy that game for themselves.

Microsoft, at least, intends to change that, and it will soon be introducing gifting options for digital games. Responding to a fan on Twitter, Xbox’s Mike Ybarra said that gifting functionality for Xbox One was ‘not far’, which is excellent news.

As of right now, we don’t know if this will also extend to the Windows Store, but frankly, having it just on Xbox is a good start. Now, let’s hope Sony and Nintendo are paying attention, and decide to do this too…

There is more Bad news if you only have a Playstation, both ‘Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2’ have been announced to be entering the EA Access vault.

      Only on Xbox consoles.

You’re just salty because the only one willing to buy you a game is me.

I’m sure we’ll get this before you get that greatness that’s been awaiting for years…..guess what it was a lie.

      Keep defending inferior hardware.

    • Mr Xrat

At least you’ll actually be buying a game for a change, Xgimp.

I actually just bought crash bandicoot. What’s your address I’ll send you a copy. I can give you my public pgp if you like. I wanted to see if it’s really as hard as people say it is. It used to be a piece of cake to me.

There are some games that I wish I could finish that I never did.
Like driver 2 I got stuck on the last mission and couldn’t knock the car off the mountain. After I tried hundreds of times for weeks my brother did it in his second try.lol
I’m halfway through the game on my xb1.

Only an Xgimp would call paying for unfinished games, paying for stuff they should be getting with XBLG and using limp emulation as a crutch for no games a good thing. Keep those cheeks spread!

    • greatnessIsaLIE

Hey emulation allows the xb1 to play more Playstation games than the ps4. So there’s literally thousands of Playstation games the xb1 can play that the ps4 cant. And they run great.

    • Mr Xrat

You mean the emulators officially banned off the Windows Store? Keep up, Xgimp. We know you aren’t too smart but at least try and put some effort in.

    • greatnessIsaLIE

Hey once you buy them they stay on your console.
      They even get updates.
I bought a sweet kudi clone app that comes with the urls to channels. I have access to any channel in the world for a one time fee of 9.99
the app is banned now but I still use it.
I wonder if I can redownload it though. Or maybe transfer to my Scorpio when I get it in a few months.

Pramath says, “Microsoft continues to extend its lead on the services front.”

Wait a second. How is Microsoft extending it’s lead when Steam and Nintendo did this long ago?

This must be more of those opinionated facts that Pramath likes to fabricate to his readers to defend the Xbone.

Hey Pramath, is charging for party chat a great feature?

Hey Pramath, is charging for free to plays a great feature?

Hey Pramath, are slow game installs a great service?

Hey Pramath, are buggy network features, system crashes and a cluttered interface great services?

Is requiring Xbone owners to buy a whole new console for HDR a great service?

Is blocking all cross platform play, even with Steam, a great service to developers?

Is banning self publishing a great service?

Is it a great service to charge Xbone owners just to access internet browsers and apps like Netflix?

Is region locking a great service?

Lets not forget how Microsoft charged their fans to play online since 2002 yet when the Xbone launched benchmarks showed that Xbox Live was slower. It took them months to fix the matchmaking. It took years to fix the party chat.

If the Xbone was so great with services, why has Microsoft done little this generation other than backtrack in response to poor sales, and mimic the PS4? For example, faster ways of recording game clips, activity feeds, PSN Communities, PSN Events tab, Remote Play, Game Hubs and attempts at ripping off the PS4 interface? How many interface changes has Xbone gone through?

Last time I checked, PS+ was still destroying XLG.

It seems every time Microsoft announces a new feature, Microsoft apologists like Pramath hype it up. But Microsoft has a habit of making Xslaves and journalists look like fools.

My favorites was when Pramath suggested that Microsoft should abandon the Xbone to make Scorpio a next gen system. What a great service to Xbone customers.

Or how about when Pramath praised Aaron Greenberg when he stated Xbone S and Scorpio would share games except for VR games because VR games don’t count as games. No one gets left behind, right?

Pramath, do you want to talk about Microsoft constant lying about Xbone X “true 4K”? Where are the law suits?

What about Microsoft lying about their exclusives?

Why is PSVR not getting Minecraft support even though other VR headsets on PC have it?

Why is Microsoft forcing Minecraft owners to sign into Xbox Live to play Minecraft on other systems?

Almost 4 years into a console gen but where are the Xbone games? Did Microsoft drop support in hopes that people would buy a $500 system to play multiplats? Didn’t you express concern and criticized Sony when the PS4 launched in fear that Sony would start relying on multiplats?

Where is the Kinect support Pramath?

Where is the cloud that you used to write articles about every week for a straight year?

Where is the DX12 that you hyped up for years? Proprietary APIs that lock developers to Windows is such a proconsumer service, right?
